Vent Odor

It seems like every winter i get this weird smell coming out my vents when i go to turn them on, is it mold or something, and how do i get it cleaned out?

Yes, it is mold in the system. I don't know of the best method to totally get rid of it, usually people complain about the AC in the summer. One theory to lessen the smell is to run the fan on high w/ the lever set to outside air and AC off for a few min before you shut off the car. This helps to blow/evaporate the condensation out of the system.

I don't really know what to do for the heater though. Have Toyota check it out. Have you installed a cabin air filter? It won't help to stop the smell from coming through, but it may keep the system cleaner in general.

You dont have to install a cabin airfilter, but what I would do I go to the hardware, grocery, walmart...wherever, and buy the air fresheners that go into the furnace at your house and put it into the where you would put the cabin airfillter....while your at it just put the filter in too...it only takes a minute. I did this on my celi putting in the filter and the freshener took me literally 2 minutes, that was 5 months ago and my car still smells as fresh as the day I bought it . Im a bastard and smoke in it everyday too, you wouldnt know it though.

BG products http://www.bgprod.com/autoair.html (http://) make somthing called Frigi-Fresh. It works VERY well. I don't know where you can get it in your area, but I'm sure you can find out through the website.
