Hey all
Been trying to figure out how to make the turn signals blink faster on my 2001 gt-s but cannot come to a solution yet. Thought about using a smaller wedge type bulb for the tailight blinker to possibly make the blinking faster. But I think this would only burn out the little bulb. I have an 89 celica ST and I only had to cut the neg. wire on the front turn signals since it had dual filaments in the bulb (1157 I think).
I would appreciate any suggestions you guys may have..

I would do the safest thing and find somebody that has actually replaced the stock relay with the aftermarket one. You could probably do it yourself, but I'm not that "electrically-inclined" so I would seek out some Celica (or Honda owner, a TON of Hondas have those annoying things) where to get those relays. Its the relay that's controlling the actual blinking "tempo". Sometimes if there's a bulb out, or a short circuit, or an unattached lamp, you will get the same effect. But play it legal, do it right so you don't cause a fire or attract more unwanted attention.

i had to buy new bulbs for my rear turn signals since my piaa's would not pass inspection. i ended up getting some Red led bulbs. i'm happy with them. but now, my turn signal is crazy fast. i used the search function, and everyone seems to want to have faster turn signals. i, on the other hand, do not want faster turn signals. is there a way besides changing out the bulb(cause i just don't have the patience or time to change it in and out anymore) to have a slower turn signal. with the turn signal blinking so fast, i'm afraid that it'll short some wire or fuse or the bulb will have a shorter life span or something. would these be the case???

Making your turn signals blink fast is ricey in my opinion, but you could try using LED bulbs.
They draw a lower current than regular bulbs and they blink fast because the car thinks the bulbs are out.
Or maybe you could use a resistor?

i already have led bulbs, and the turn signals are crazy fast. i, unlike everyone else in the searched threads, do not want a fast turn signal. i'm afraid that it'll short some wires or fuse or the bulb will have a shorter life span or something. i was asking if these would be the case b/c of the fast turn signal???

http://www.superbrightleds.com/1157.htm look for LOAD RESISTOR KITS.

why the hell do you want faster turn signals? just to let you know, there is a regulation on how fast/slow your turns signals can flash in CA. if you can make the electric current go through the system more quickly, then it'll flash more quickly like when you blow a bulb, the remaining bulbs in the circuit system with flash more quickly.
