How bad is it to hit the rev limiter when your driving if you only do it occasionaly? And what is the rev limiter set at on a gt 5-speed? Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, it doesn't hurt if you just occassionally hit the engine to redline. Just don't keep the rpm in red zone for long time. It will be okay. After all, the engine is designed to work more efficiently at high rpm.

shouldn't hurt you to hit the redline, it's there to protect you.
I think the autox guys hit the redline all the time. no problems for them

...just don't hit the rev-limiter too often.
The engine is moving at an incredible speed, and remember, that everytime the engine turns, it burns a little bit of oil, and over a long time under those circumstances, will result in a thrown rod or bearing.
But if you do it ocassionally, your fine. Like the other replies said, the Celica engine is designed to work in high rpm zones, especially the GT-S.
