:( If any one can help me. Please let me know what to do. In short, somone keyed my car while Christmas shopping this year, then someone said they could get it out (wetsanded it and took off part of the clear-coat???). So then i had to get the quarter-panel repainted and when they did they did a good job, but the paint is not exact to the paint on my door? From far away it stands out to me. I just want my car the way it was when I bought it :( . The people at the body shop told me that Since i had that spot removed and resprayed the QP that I had more clearcoat in that area of the car therefore it looked heavier in that section. What are my options???. Can i have that part sanded down to the metal, then repainted Would that match exact, or do I clearcoat doors and front fender, so it blends better (but then the hood and other side will be off a bit?. Or is my only choice to re-paint my entire car :sad . I cant afford to do that. I know cars can be painted exact because I have seen them in magazines done properly. If anyone knows what I should do please let me know!
They told me it being a silver car it would almost never match exact :pissed !
I am so distraught, I have spent lots of money upgrading (17" Mas Gipsy Wheels, C-one hood scoop, Wings West ground effect, Rod Millen Wing, red hose technigues, Injen race Division air intake system, TRD Springs and Exhaust, and Euro- tails. I even got all the amber out of my car., but now I am so disgusted I want to get rid of it!!!
Will my paint ever be the same:sad

Thanks Guys, If you know of anything please help!

The body shop screwed up when they fixed your car. There is no reason that they couldn't get the quarter panel to look just like the rest of the car, they just failed in their attempt. To answer your question, yes, they should be able to sand down the whole quarter panel and repaint it so it will match your car. But to be honest with you, you really shouldn't have to pay to have that done because you already paid the body shop to fix the quarter panel once. Why should you now have to pay for them to fix THEIR mistake? I would complain about their quality of work and make them fix it for free.

If you do decide to repaint the quarter panel at your expence I would highly reccomend that you have it done at a different body shop. Since they screwed it up the first time, who's to say that it will match after they repaint it now?

Oh yeah, and that thing about it never matching because it is a silver car...

That is such a bunch of crap that it makes me angry. What about the silver will make it more difficult to match than a black car or a blue car or a red car? The only time you will ever have a more difficult time matching a paint on a car is when the paint is a tri coat process. Our cars and 99% of all other production cars in the world are a two step paint process(base coat and clear coat).

Matching the paint on your silver Celica is no problem at all.

Actually Chameleon, Silver cars are hard to match perfectly. The body shop had to do my sides 3 times before it matched right. The paint on the Celica is metallic, its hard to get it to shimmer and blend right with the other parts of the car. I watched the body shop do my car the 3rd time around and it was amazing watching it be done. It's just the way silver fades on a car makes it hard to match.

Bowlingj: make the body shop do it for free, dont pay for their mistake like chameleon said. "F" that man!

I didn't really think about it, but I'll bet your right BlackGT. Silver would be a little more difficult to spray because it is a metallic paint and the metallic flakes need to spread across the surface evenly. Still, a good body shop should be able to do it with little problems, after all, aftermarket silver body peices that come pre-painted match up OK...

Thanks for pointing that out BlackGT, my mistake :)

I've known a man that owned a bodyshop. That 'blend to match' is part of their profession. He was always laughing at the shops that couldn't do it or did apoor job of it.

Shame them into re-doing it.

my old man owns a body shop and i work there, trust me man, silver is a hard colour to match. but that is no excuse to do a sh*t job. if the painter is skilled enough, he can match the color real close then blend it. what they shouldve done is paint the quarte panel and blend the door. a skilled painter should have no trouble matching the 'peel' on the clear coat.
i know how it feels.... my silver celi got the rear bumper keyed at uni. ill kill the $%&!!

I know how you feel. My car was messes with too but mine wasn't keyed. Someone took a screwdriver and stabbed my baby's back quarter panel down to the metal. I never found out who did it but when I do, there's going to be hell. There's a dent there that needs to be fixed and I'm finally going to get it fixed this weekend but I'm also worried that it might not come out that good.:( The thing is that I don't have much time left cuz I need to get it ready for two shows that are coming up really soon. If it doesn't come out good, i might just get some different graffics done on my car to cover it up for now.
