Is the Lexus IS300 worth trading the cellica in for? I'm thinking of trading up my celica for the IS300, but don't know if I should. If I do trade it in i'm probably going to loose a lot of money in the process. What do you guys think?

Going to the bank and taking out a 40k load:D just in case I need any money. I know I'm going to loose money trading the car. I have about 5500 miles on the car. What's going to kill me is that I colored my tach & speedo needles blue:(. I may loose a couple of hundreds there. Other then that the car is in mint condition with only an TRD exhaust on it. I have a TRD SS in my house don't know if I should put it in the car and trade it with it or just part the SS to one of you guys;)

You're going to lose about $3000-4000 off the sticker price on the Celica just because you drove it off the lot. the needles are the least of your worries.
As for the trade, do what makes you happy, not what makes us happy. The lexus is a good car, but in the end, it won't get you to MacDonald's any different than the Celica.
There's a good chance my next car will be an IS300 or similar, why? I want to be able to take passengers and maybe put in a car seat someday. Right now all I need is 2 doors...

Whatever you do, do NOT tell the dealer that you are trading in your car. They will give you a bad price for it, and keep the IS300 price high. You'll spend all that time fighting just to get what your car is worth. No trade=fight over IS300 price vs. trade and fight just to get $ for your car.
There is a book called "What Car Dealers Don't want you to know" Go to the bookstore, go to automotive section. Spend 15 dollars or 1 hour reading it. You will not be wasting either, trust me. You could be saving yourself 100s or 1000s, and keep yourself from being suckered into a shady deal.
IS300 is pretty quick and nice but it is still a Lexus. You'll have luxury stuff like sound dampening, and a bunch of nice (heavy) stuff to go with. It IS a dope ride... be prepared to drop $ to have stuff fixed cuz it is a Lexus. The nice thing is that I believe there is a SC or something out for the IS300. Check Insurance too... Lexus can be a big jump from the Celica.
Good luck :)

Forget the lexus wait for the EVO VII... next spring :D.
Is lexus worth trading for celica, well it depends what your looking for. If you wanna pimp go get the lexus, if you wanna pimp and look fast keep the celica. Is loosing 3-4k mean alot to you? With 3-4k you can do alot with the celica. Or you can trade the celica and loose 3-4k and have a stock pimpin lexus.
To me its not worth it, if I want to trade the celica, Id wait for the EVO VII.

The IS300 is definitely a nice ride but personally I don't think it's worth trading in your Celica for. If you're considering this trade because you want to impress other people (and you know that's why you wanna do it), don't waste your time, other people don't give a s**t about what you drive. Do what you think is right. If you're looking for a fast sedan, I'd have to agree with iDRIVE and wait for the EVO VII and the WRX STi.

I don't buy any car to impress anyone because that would be plain dumb:( I wanted to get a Celica or a IS300 fromt he start the reason why I got the celica is because they had them in stock at the moment. Also, I didn't think I would be able to afford the IS300:shocked. I love both of the cars and wish I could stay with both but that's not going to happend... It all comes down to what the bank says to me this week. Either way I'm comfortable with the decision that bank will tell me.
P.S.
I don't like Mitsubishi cars so the Evo VII is out of the question. My last car was an Eclipse and it was nothing but problems. I lost too much money in that car. Also, I don't like the way the WRX looks the body style doesn't call out to me....

The IS300 is a way different car then the EVO and WRX. They are in total different class. There shoudn't even be a comparison because one is Luxury and the other 2 are sport cars.
As for trading it in, I probably don't suggest so unless you want to lose $3-$4 from the MSRP like what someone said.
But the IS300 is a nice car, a little bit under power compare to the next generation of cars coming out, but hey, it's a LEXUS, it's luxury to the fullest. I feel lucky as hell as my chick is getting a IS300.
*You know, her car is my car, her money is my money, my car is my car and my money is my money :D *

If you're gonna spend that kind of money on a brand new car, I would take a look at the 330xi.
About $3K more (base) but this is a BMW with a really refined all wheel drive system. However, I can't knock you getting an IS300. Just make sure you get the HID kit. The yellow IS300s look INSANE at night with the HID bulbs!
Good luck in your decision!
Oh, and make sure to get a stick too!

The IS is a nice car but not worth its loaded price. For that same price just wait for the Z......or the EVO or the STi WRX, there are sooooo many new cars coming out, the IS is fading more and more in my mind as my next car......

Yeah I have to agree, I will be in the market for another car in about two - three years and the choices available then will be amazing. 350Z, RX-8, EVO VII, WRX STi, new Supra, man that is just outstanding.

IMO... i wouldnt trade it for IS... i mean it is LEXUS..it is dope..
i wait for another year or two and trade it in for BMW M3 or something... i want the luxury and sporty at the same time. besides, New Z, RX-8, and EVO is coming out too.. IS is over priced for what it is and it is way under powered compared to others.... TOO MANY PPL DRIVE IT TOOOO:mad:

All right...suppose that you get a stripped down IS300...that's what? around $30k (really stripped down, no options except for moonroof)? Say you are lucky to get $19,000 for your car...so that leaves $11,000 plus tax to pay off (round to $12k)? You take out $40k to pay $12k, so you got $28k left, right? DUDE, if you are crazy enough, plunk down the $20k for the PHR Twin Turbo 2JZGTE engine conversion and $9k for the PHR Getrag V160 6 speed conversion (well, with $1000 more)!! Then, when you've sold your house and live in the car, you'd have enough money to REALLY tune that baby! The possibilities are endless...:D
