Honda S2000 Antennas: Yes They Do Get Ripped Off

I woke up this morning to find my S2000 antenna missing off my car. Funny how nothing else got ripped off.

I understand that it's only $20, but still...I try to make my ride look nice and someone has to come along and f@#& it up.

Fortunately I was able to get another S2000 antenna, but I think the original lightning rod antenna (yuck) will stay on my car for a while. :(

Justice is coming for that/those little bastard(s). :mad:

same shiz happened to me at an underground parking lot for a local car show... dayum, I should've known better and taken it off. There was another Celica parked across from me and his antenna was missing too....

I know a lot of Celica owners are actually engraving their real names on the backside of the antenna with a blade. This way they will see the antenna and do one of two things:

A. Won't take it because it has YOUR name on it and they don't want it on theirs of course, OR

B. They will still take it, realize it has your name on it later, and then throw it down some sewer drain.

Or you might want to use some sort of apoxy-binding glue like metal to metal to hold the threads together. I'm not sure if anybody has done that yet, but it sounds like the most logical thing to do.

I find it amusing that the antenna gets stolen after SIX MONTHS of leaving it on the car (I never took the mast off at any time). My car has been practically everywhere...good and bad spots, and no one has ever messed with it. I contemplated taking the antenna off whenever I parked, but like I said, why now after six months of ownership?

And why just the antenna? They could have other stuff on the car. I looked around the parking lot and saw another Celica, but it had the stock.

I also thought about using an adhesive as suggested in past threads but figured if someone was going to take it, they will do it by any means. And I don't want my car damaged/scratched in the process.

I know I'm bitching over a $20 antenna and realize that worse things could have happened (I do have my car alarmed and clubbed, fortunately), but it's just the fact of someone coming along and taking what yours.

(Edit: Just wanted to say I finally engraved the new antenna as suggested...maybe that will help...maybe not)

i have $4 radio shack antenna which is all rubber and about 6-8 inches high, i like it a lot more than stook antenna, i owuld take a pic, but i dropped my digi cam

how about you guys get $1.99 thread-lock glue. This holds your antenna in place for-ever. this case no one can un-screw & steal!

how bout when some punk twists so hard, since it doesn't come off, rips off the thread?

they sell the Red Thread Lock (the kind that says: once you put it on...it's never coming off). you could try that.

Use a car cover when parking 'away', more conspicious that way. People watch when the cover is being removed. (they want to see whats under there thats so special.)

Nope, the whole mast was unscrewed.

I don't mind the idea of having a tazer on that mast... :D

Dude speaking of that mine got jacked last week in the parking lot at UCR....Not too pissed since there isn't really anything you can do but i've been thinking of things to do but u guys have already mentioned them all heh.

I wonder if other celica owners who got their S2000 antennas ripped off ripped of yours?? Just kidding guys. This is the reason I got the powered antenna. no worries about it getting ripped off.
