Popping sound

I just installed my system and it sounds pretty nice except for two things. When i turn on my engine i hear a high pitched ring like a spool. i know it has something to do with the ground but there's also this popping sound every time i change tracks or turn on the stereo. Is thi due to the ground also? Why does it make that popping sound?

What all are you running in your system? Please list it out for us. I have some ideas what it could be, but I'd like to see your equipment list first.

first i'd try moving rca's around if you have them, that's where you pick up high pitched whine a lot. sometimes this'll fix it. that and make sure your grounds are all good. and make sure the rca's don't have a bad shield, if you can unscrew the connectors make sure the shield wire doesn't touch the signal wire.
