ok guys well i knwo alot of u read my post about my clankin/werid noise when i turn my car, well the dealer replaced the upper plates and ball bearings on both sides, and put new bolts in too, they also repalced the spring seat on both sides as they were slightly rubbed, but the best thing....ALL COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! they didnt give me any b.s.! nothing about the springs, or about the strut bar. paid nothing. there is now NO sound or anything.absoulty perfect. the alignment/suspension splecialist showed me that after time with the bar on the car there is a possiblity that the bearings with wear out alittle quikcer, as the bar makes that are stiffer. i dunno if thats exaclty wat he said but somehintg on those lines, its all fixed so thats all i car.
i also had my tranny fulid, collent fliud, a/c and **** changed. so i payed fort that but nothing forthe suspension probs.
btw- anyone have their engine steam cleaned with a CAI? any probs? recommended or no? peace. jon

I don't see why steam cleaning would hurt a CAI, as long as you don't wash the filter with it (cotton gauze filters will shrink  ).

just a quick corection on that on response, they never said the strut bar was the cause, or they jsut didnt give a **** and replaced ti anywa being really cool about it i guess, i mean they didn say anyhitng bout the bar, only the springs, but when i went to pick up, anticipatin a big bill, i paye d45 bux to get the fuilds changed and that was it, i was really surprised that covered everything under warranty, nad gues wat? even more, the bolts on the top of the strut tower were stripped up badly from me not putting the tower on right, they replaced it with no hassle at all, either the guy at alignmen ddint give a**** and didnt tell the toyota service manager and covered it under warranty, idunno, but wateva they had up their ass's that day was in my favor. peace. jon

So does this mean that all of us with strut tower bars should take them off? I don't get the point of his post, other than he got stuff fixed under warranty...

I've cleaned my engine with my Blitz intake and I usually just put two or three plastic grocery bags over the filter just to be a safe.

Aren't you supposed to cover the alternator too? Or maybe I'm thinking of the distributor cap (which we dont have)...

na the reason was at first i was asking wat the hell the clankin was than i found out and now i am letting u KNOW wat the problem is, so when somebody comes around and starts asking about this AGAIN i dont have to sit here and type up another 3 pages on how to fix it. so u can jsut search it. and i never said the strut bar was teh CAUSE of the problem, i was just stating wat the clanking noise is that over 30 people on here have posted about. just do a search for "clanking". dont be a smart ass to me, i was nice enough to let people know wat the noise was and wat caused it.

ENGLISH!!! I'm not trying to be rude, but it also helps if you spell things right. That way people can understand what you're saying, and also find via a search.

What type of bar did you have? Is it the APR? I am having the same problem after installing my H&R and KYB AGX struts. I had have a APR bar.

I think that the problem might be the design of the apr strut bar. It doesn't seem like the design allows for any flexing of the strut towers. All the other strut tower bars seem to allow for some limited flexing. This flexing might allow for less wear on the bearings in the suspension support. Just my theory.
Was the noise you were having more like a popping noise when you made slow turns like pulling into a parking space, straightening out while parking or turning slowly over uneven surfaces or sometimes braking?
