About a week ago my friend asked me to race him he has a Civic EX 95 Manual with V-Tec, and he thinks he could take my 2001 Celica GT Auto (Stock)

Well At 1:30 am we took it to Sample Road and searched for lights, when we go to one we floor it when it turns green half way threw the race i was just 1 car ahead of him and he was starting to catch up while we reached speeds of over 110 mph to almost 120 when all of a sudden on the other side of the road i see a white car approah as i pass it i look and its a BCO (Broward County Sheriff) followed by a CSPD (Coral Springs Police Department) i get scared look out my rear window and i see both cops slam on their brakes, and get into the u-turn line.....my friend pulls off and turns right at the next light, and i go straight down a dead end, the cops both turn right and follow my friend and i got away.

He managed to get away from the cops too, but i was wondering what would happen if the cops stopped us?

Would we get arrested?

The speed limit was 45

You woulda been in either jail (for running from the cops), or would have your license suspended for a long ass time. Becareful! You got lucky this time man. Pigs suck. They must have spilled their donuts or something.

True, but the thing is, they could abuse their power and claim you were running. These type of cops are out there. It's well known that cops have a special dislike for import tuned cars. Don't get me wrong, not every cop is an a-hole, but there are a lot out there.

Have you guys raced since? Did you kick that Civic's ass? My friend has a 2000 DX and the has an intake, exhaust, headers, racing sparkplugs, and pulleys. He was equal to my Celica GT when it was stock. Then I got an intake and pulleys and now I beat him at least two lengths every time. It pisses him off, I love it. Nothing funnier then a pissed of Civic owner. He's getting a supercharger soon, so I'm going to have to up my game.

Only if you don't do it right and if you are endangering the lives of others that are not racing.

In my opinion, here's the perfect street race:

1.) Late at night
2.) No other cars around
3.) More than 4 lanes. (one open lane between two cars)
4.) Other car is not an idiot ricer who doesn't know how to race.
5.) Stoplight where you can see the other light turning orange
6.) Plenty of street lights so you can see the road
7.) No cops around
8.) No alcohol consumation
9.) No other people in the car
10.) G-Tech Pro in car.
11> Talk about mods with the person you raced. Hope that the person you raced is a Carmen Electra look-a-like and go buy her a drink :-)

Yeah, it's a bit knit-picky and probably never happens, but it is a nice thought. Better than paying money to go to the track. Even thought the track is a blast as they have time slips. G-tech Pro could be used though.

If the speed limit was 45 its a felleion at 90 (sorry I can't spell, long day, brain dead). So yes you would have been suspended and been up for jail time... if they proved it you wouldn't be posten here for at least a few months... sucks but never race on roads with a speed limit less than 55. Hard to find and means more cops or just go out to a country road where you know theres no one and you don't gata worry about other people or the cops, just watch thoese ditchs and tele-poles and you'll be fine. I have 1 of those roads but man 8 foot ditch and big 4 Ft Diameter concret poles, only do it past 11 when the dealer ship that it is next to closes. Good road and straight for 3 miles... just don't **** up ... lol well GL and don't be stupid about racing. Do it right by not endanger others and you'll have less chance of cops then, less people... simple thought!

It's not the cars, it's the fact that a majority of the people involved with them are punk asses.

Anyway, it's VTEC, not V-Tec, and why do you feel the need to go to 120mph in slow cars to determine who wins? It takes long enough to get to 60 in those two that that should be fast enough for you.

I used to believe the same things until I watched my friends Jetta blow a tire and go head on into a tree.He has been in a nursing home since September.22 years old and won't be able to walk right ever again.Be careful and think about what it would be like ,Racing in a wheel chair.I'm not saying this to be an ass either,It's just not worth it for just a rush.;)

Hi Fish,

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your friend. Thanks for sharing that. Yeah, there is always a risk involved, but the risk is there even if we don't want it to be. Even walking the streets is a dangerous thing these days. Stories like that of yours always make me think twice about these things and I always strive to make sure all is safe. A tire blowing is a dangerous thing, even on a highway going the speed limit. I'm still going to do what I do with my car as that is the way I like to live. Accidents happen and it's unfortunate that they always have to happen to good people.

Take care man and thanks for the perspective,

Fin
