Exactly.
I guess my question would be...
Can the car fly? That wing should allow flight I would think.

More power to you, but I would feel absolutly ridiculous getting in and out of that car in public. The concept is cool and all, but on a $20,000 sub-compact it just comes off looking totally pretencious. Anyhoo, that's just my opinion, if your happy with it, thats all that matters. :)

That is sweet indeed. I wanted to do that to my celica when I had it. But my bodyshop could not do it. They said because it a new car so there isnt a kit for it. I dont think you need a 'kit' persay. Just a matter of hinges and shocks/compressors.
So you have close up pics of the mechanism?

I was just in a body shop today and was looking at an S2000 with Lambo doors. All I can say is...they weren't very robust. They worked good once they were going up, but he had to be very careful right when opening the doors and the hinges flexed around alot. IMO, you're just asking for problems with those things.

03-27-2003, 07:27 PM
1)
Q. What is it like to get out.
A. Getting in and out is definitly different but once you do it once it feels natural. The door opens enough that as long as you are not like 300 pounds then the door does not need to be vert to get out. Is even easier to get out when the windows are down.
2) Comment: these pictures are really nice, but one thing. they are nothing compaired to walking up to it when you can physically see the vehical
3)
Put it this way. If you think people will laugh when you get out of the vehicle cuse it looks bad get off the drugs.
We have throughly tested this. EVERYONE who seen the doors open no matter where we go are like what kinda car is that.
The civic looks CHEESY with the door kit on it... the CELICA looks exotic.
So those who think it looks bad - I ask that you wait until you see one of the ones my shop has installed at the car shows before you cast judgement.
Ask the owner to get in and out. I promise if money was not the issue you would want it.
As far as the super charger... they help win shows but the doors are what will help guarantee the win for seaside-graphix
the doors maybe take 4 pounds pressure to lift they are so light.
And as for the sway... who ever did that s2000 install did a bad one.
Seaside graphics has NO sway cuse the way I installed it.
Other shops were tack welding the hinge onto the car but once I was done with the installation i noticed that IT IS NOT NEEDED
I welcome all calls and will answer all questions.
I am now Decah's Authorized Dealer for the Celica Hinge

NO WAY! everywhere we went and opend the doors people came over. all ages were interested in the doors. our celica did catch some eyes before but now DAM. WHAT A DIFFERENCE NOW.....
doors open nice and im 6'2" and i get in and out just fine.... as for the supper charger or turbo we are waiting for a supercharger so we got the doors to hold us over till it Comes out.....

I think 1500 is more reasonable like the Civic and Integra. Why is the price 1700 for the Celica? I would guess because the kit new for this model car and could be also be slighty mechanically different. Over all, I think the Celi deffinately deserves an accentuation of this sort. I think I may purchase myself one.
Also, has there been any other installs besides the silver Celica shown?

There both the same kit just one you can buy from carexcess already modded to just bolt on to our car. Because there is some modification that needs to be done for it to work. But it seems like you only need to drill a few new holes to get it to work. So i dont think thats worth 200 dollars because i can drill holes myself.

I have a couple of questions.
How is this get in and get out with this. Do tall people have a problem with that?
Do you also send the Kit to Germany? how much does the shipping cost?
Is the Kit fastened at the original fastening points or must I still drill or weld?
SEASIDE-GRAPHIX

ian from car exess has modified the hindges not just with a few holes. we were the first on the board to have it done (well the first to drive with them) we have had no problems. lets put it this way when you buy the kit from somebody that isnt modified and you go to a shop to have them put on you will be charged alot of money to have them put on. it will take a lot longer than they think to do it. it took one shop 13 hours to do it. now most body shops will charge by the hour. ians kit from carexess is great we love it on our car and we are happy we did it... im 6'2" and i get in and out fine....
