Did TRD quit making everything for the celica? I was just looking on the TRD site and everything says discontinued.

I wanted to order a see through gas cover with cap and last time I checked, I could find it for around $80 to $90 and now WCToyota has it listed at $200!! Anyone know where I can still get it for less than a hundred?

Steal it (j/k) or find someone who is willing to sell theirs.

I don't want a $300 piece of plastic but, an $80 piece isn't too bad. That's why I'm pissed...a month ago it was $80, now it's $200. You guys are right, TRD SUCKS ASS. Why would they abandon the Celica? BASTARDS!

Yeah, that stinks, but its nice to see that TTE are still showing an interest in the Celica. hopefully that celica with turbo kit will be made available for all of us and not just for show.

I don't post here often, but I like reading the board.

The founder of my strategy consulting company is on the international advisory board for Toyota. I am going to send an e-mail to their PR dept from my company e-mail address.

Their treatment of the Celica seems to be less than ideal to us (evangelists segment). This is contrary to many of the theorems that my company promotes. However, Toyota may be moving away from our market. I will try to find out more about why they are doing things to disappoint us. On the other hand, Toyota treatment of mis-shifts seems to be quite commendable.

If I were thinking about the celica and reading the amount of disappointment i see today then i would probably not buy the celica (I bough mine last year).

Will update you as i find out more.

Thanks async, I think we all need the heads up. Sure, it's dandy to have other companies to work on our cars, but it's still bad rep if our own company doesn't care. Honda doesn't even NEED to work on their cars themselves, b/c they got so many aftermarket companies to do that. But WE need it, and Toyota's been pretty screwy up to now. I thought the new Celica and the MR2 were Toyota saying that they're back in the sports car business. Oh well...

You guys are new to Toyotas, aren't you?

TRD has never really given any love to the Celica. They usually stop at suspension, short shifters, brake pads, exhaust, and body kits.

If you had an AE86 Corolla you would have all the parts on hand to build a 300hp N/A 4A-GE.

Sorry, but I am seeing TRD doing the same crap they did in the past. Not much.

phaqgm,

yes I am new to Toyota cars. However, large japanese companies pay big money to listen to what my co-workers and I have to say about how they run their business. This time I am offering my advice for free to them for my own personal understanding. This may not effect their behaviour, but i will learn from it and also NC.org members will know what to expect (with explicit certainty instead of hypotheses using the historical annecdotes)

Quite frankly I think I speak for everyone here. WE WILL BE IN LINE FOR PARTS FROM TRD IF IT HAPPENS, AND IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.
The market has changed so much in the 90's with the advent of the whole sport compact aftermarket. There really was no such thing until the early 90's. In any case I want parts for my car, and I will be ready to buy, I wanna do stuff to my car, it is a hobby, and something fun to do.
Please tell them what we are about and the fact that there are so many websites just for the Celica with so many members.

thanks

Here is the deal...

The product manger for Celica in US admits that they are behind in the aftermarket She mentioned the TRD body kit. But more interestingly she emphasized their recent forray into NIRA and NHRA.

They are commited to developing an aftermarket, but the response I got did not mention encouraging the third-party aftermarket vendors. I am following up with questions related to this.

BTW: I think they might lurk here because I got my response right on Friday....which is the personal deadline for response I set before I went to the advisory board =)
