View Full Version : Everyone Read: Why Every single person should contest EVERY ticket they are given

just read some statistics out there on various legal sites.
I figured out that the cost of bringing traffic tickets to court is actually not feasible. Every time you bring it to court, the amount of time you spend and salaries they have to pay (including the hefty overtime the cops can get paid for showing up to court) ends up in LOST MONEY.

So, technically, if every single person contested each of their traffic tickets by pleading not guilty, the state would be in large amounts of debt, not to mention have a completely lockjammed court system.

Now, not to propose a "project mayhem" of sorts, but if every one of us all protested every single one of our tickets (a good idea, the judge will often lower fines and such if you have a good talk with them) then the court system will start losing money.

So basically go in there and philibuster (waste as much of their time as possible)
they don't have the money to keep up with every one of us

The legal system was designed to be so annoying that most people didn't want to miss a day of work or vacation to go up to court.

I say...DO IT...screw the system!

Think about people
Its our right to have the trial

EXCERSIZE IT!

-a public service announcement from your fellow angry guy-

bottom line: they don't have the time to waste on us contesting every little B.S ticket

Bother them enough, and they will stop harassing us.

I wonder how many tickets are actually BS, I mean like no infraction was actually commited. Let's just let everyone drive however they like and be done with it (hmmm, they're already doing that in CA). If the system is jammed up and not generating any revenue then my guess is they will find some place else to get the money. So I guess if your idea is for me to subsidize some a-hole's penchant for driving stupid I must respectfully decline. You play-you pay, simple.

Not only that, but if you take a ticket to court it will always be knocked down.. If the ticket will put points on your license they normally will just give you a lesser charge, drop the tickets and pay a fine. Much better then getting points and having your insurance go up for the next 3 years.

Actually, if every one contested their traffic violations the states would not go into debt over the court costs, you would just have to start paying ten times more for tickets because they would just raise the fines to compensate. :p

I really agree with oldster. Not to sound like a b1tch or anything, but it was always my impression that police are here to protect and serve us. This country would be a much less safe place if every police officer had to spend most of thier time in court. Also, isn't it taxpayer money that pays their salaries? Wouldn't your little "scheme" end up costing YOU money in the long run?

The money they lose by people contesting tickets belongs to you anyway, so do what you like. For me personally, I pay taxes once already.... I dont feel the need to spend that money again.

BESIDES the fact that by the way people drive, it seems obvious that people are not concerned enough about getting tickets in the first place.

I was just thinking about this issue the last few days. I recently got dropped from my insurance because of excess tickets. The reason for the drop was that in ND they have a point system. The point system gradually added up.... I had SMALL tickets... ie 73 in a 65 ...that just added up and caused a suspension.

I have yet to be in an accident. I agree, the US would be a much less safe place if we didn't have police and I do appreciate the work they do. However, when policeman are just out meeting quota's and trying to gain revenue, well frankly that is bs.

The main reason I got so many tickets was that I drove a 7 hour trip one way every weekend to go see my soon to be wife. I did that for about a year. I racked up the little piddly tickets driving through little hole in the earth towns where the local HP would sit on the road with nothing to do but work up revenue. I seriously didnt' get a single warning until just recently, every single time I got pulled over I got a ticket.
Police are there to "Protect and Serve".... go do that, instead of handing out usesless tickets where the punishment doens't fit the crime.
Tell me another area where you do something wrong and you get a fine, then you get to bend over and take it straight up the ass from your insurance company.
Not only do you get fined but then they get to raise your insurance rates for 3 years!!!!!!!!! INSANE. No accidents, no DWI's nothin nada zilch.
I called my insurance rep and left him a nice message detailing my problem. I told him that I have basically been giving him/his company free money for XX amount of years and felt it was ridiculous they dropped me. He then called back and said he compltely agreed with me and said he'd try to work something out.
