View Full Version : Rotating Rear Wiper Arm

I was thinking about rotating my rear wiper arm 90 deg clockwise so it sits horizontally across the bottom of the hatch opposed to the current vertical position. I realize that the arm can easily be taken off and rotated but I need to figure out how to reverse the linkage or the motor so the arm will now rotate counter clockwise to wipe away water. I am aware that the wiper will now be wiping against the flow of the water when driving, but it should still function adequately and I mainly want to do this for appearance purposes. I was going to take the hatch apart, but I was wondering if anyone has done this or has any advice before I start taking things apart. Thanks

You gotta consider.. dusts and debrise will start collecting...
Just leave it the way it is.. I don't see much difference having it that way.....
In Vegas.. we rarely use rear wiper... :D

I thought about the collection of dust in front of the wiper, but if you think about it there are hatch back cars with the wiper in this position. Just a thought, but I think I'll rotate the arm just to see what it looks like and then decide if it is worth the hassle.

Just try it out... I'm just being picky about the collecting dust.....
Since it'll be reversible... :D

Also think about the air that comes down the rear window and hits the wiper in that position............it will start flapping like mad...............

So before you go through tand modify the wiper.........take it off and rotate it to the position that you want and then drive with it..........see if it gets affected by the wind.
