Is there an easier way to remove the butterfly valve besides taking out the stock airbox? And do you actually remove a part from the vehicle or do you just lift the valve up(does it stay there?) and plug up the little hose? thanks

For the little (if any) gain it's really not worth the trouble removing it.

I don't know how it could be any easier. You don't have to remove the whole box, just take the cover off (top). Most people take the whole unit out of the box. It is possible to just disconnect the vaccum hose and plug it up. The "flap" will stay open by itself. But you will notice that the total air flow passage is restricted by leaving it in, especially if it is not functioning. Take it out and it almost doubles the air passageway.

Gains are insignificant, but yes I did it.
