Quick question, is the day time running light bulbs the wedge bulbs for the parking lights?

No, they are the high beams but they run at reduced power when used as DRLs.

I just installed the HID highbeam bulbs but when I turned the lights on, the parking lights came on and not the high beam bulbs. It was dark outside so maybe that was the factor. I guess I have to check it out tomorrow.

Your confusing me a bit but I will say this. There is a light sensor which activates your DRLs. They won't come on if it's too dark out.

I know there is a sensor. I turned on the lights with the engine off and only the parking lights and side markers came on. The high beam and low beam lights didn't come on at all. Its ok, it's not biggie...I'll just get blue/hid parking light bulbs anyways.

i just replaced my daytime bulbs the other day.. theyre just wedge bulbs.. 12v 5w.. i didnt buy new highbeams(9005) cause i barely use them.. i see them as a waste of money.. i also cut the DRL wire cause i couldnt stand them but the daytimes still come on when u turn on the low beams.. thats the only reason why i replaced them.

Thats what I thought. SO the DRL bulbs are the parking wedge bulbs and not the HB3 highbeams. Oh wells.

The wedge bulbs come on when you turn on the lowbeams because they are parking lights, not DRLs. The DRLs are also the high beams. I know what I'm talking about, I see it with my own eyes everyday.

That might be fine with you but information should be given if you were sure. Imagine someone (newbie) following what you say and bought wedge bulbs when they have nothing to do with DRL

its fine and i understand.. i made a mistake.. i cut them the week i got my car.. literally.. so i havent seen them in about a month.. it just seems funny how some people LOOK for people that make mistakes so they can just pounce on it.. they cant post fast enough.. when.. we all come here to talk to other ppl that have the same car.. and enjoy getting help.. thats why were here to correct ourselves... i was a dumba$$ and there were ppl to correct me.. but keep in mind theres a right way to correct someone.. and an wrong way to correct someone.. my friend showed me a picture once with a kid in the special olympics running and the quote under it said "fighting on the internet is like running in the special olympics.. even if u win your still retarded".. so.. before this gets rediculously out of hand.. i was wrong.. u were right.. just be more forgiving in future k? :)

the wedge bulb comes on when u turn the switch one click, and 2 clicks (parking light, and low beam).
and unless u cut the DRL wire, they come on automatically when it is dark.
the DRL comes on only the engine is one (or key is in the ON part) and u release the e-brake. there is no way to turn on teh DRL without turning the key and releaseing ebrake.
if u want DRLs but hate the color, u change the 9005 High beam/DRL bulb (the big one below the projector). i am changing mine to super white/purple.
the wedge bulb is parking light, nothing to do with the DRL.

I've heard that it is hard to get a good color (whitish - blue etc) out of the drl's cuz the bulb is only at 40% power.
Pokgai: When you get a chance, tell us what results (color-wise) you get in drl's from changing the hi-beam + what brand bulbs you use.

I use Naxos Zenon bulbs and my DRLs are nice and white with just a little hint of blue during the day. They look good.

i had Hiper Industries Plazma Xenon (blue tint) bulbs in my mom's Toyota Sienna LOL! it was the H4 bulb and also was the DRL bulb. i drove past my mom and her DRL were nice white. but they were too dim so i changed them back to stock.

I installed the Hiper Industries 9005 bulbs the other day and it isn't really bright for DRL but when it's night time and when it burns at full power it is comparable to real HIDs. I changed the parking lights to blue bulbs so it won't be noticeable with my white projector bulbs.

ditto..i installed all HID style bulbs but the daylights aren't as WHITE as i wanted them to be...so i guess i'll be rippin out the DRLS....also..i don't want the bulbs to burn out as quickly..cuz they cost $$$$$$$

i agree with the last few posts. also, banana_ryce has the correct bulb sizes. the wedge bulbs are 194.
if you get the hiper industries 9005 bulbs, like everyone's said, it emits a nice white light, but the best thing about it is that the chrome reflects the bluish bulb when the light's not on. the look is GREAT! at night, when u actually turn on the high beams, everything looks friggin blue!!

hehe i got the purple tinted ones from Hiper! i dont really like the blue look from the housing.
and for the parking light bulb, i wanted a whiter light, but no blue. so i got the LED wedge bulb from hiper too (same seller on ebay). i should get it soem time this week.

I'm getting the fog light bulbs installed this weekend. It will be the same bulbs as my low beams so when it's both on it will look the same.
