thanks.
the output right now is mostly white and a little yellow but not too much. the cutoff line on cars is purple and it flashes blue/purple/white/yellow when your driving or at certain angles.
XENON DEPOT(where i bought it from) said it should get brighter as it wears in more and should get whiter.
i dont know how it can get much brighter though:)
i leave them on during the day now instead of drl's.

hehe having fun there with the long shutter speed eh?
gotta do something about the glare man.... 1) cover up the UFO holes.... 2) paint that curved metal piece in front of the projector flat black. thats where 90% of the glare bounces off of.
see, 4100K is the best huh?? hahhaa what have i been saying lol.
well, there will still be peopel who wont like the almost-stock lookign appearance of them, and woudl rather go blue. their loss (in nighttime visibility)
edit: yeah now that i look at it, your exposure time is hella long! try making it not open so much... try to get the pics to look like what theyd look like in real life (maybe a 1 second exposure time?). on my camera, its not open too long, even on the "moon" setting (nighttime). i wish i could manually leave it open for hella days.

what do i cover the ufo holes with?
where do i get it at.
are you talking about the line that makes the cutoff.
you paint the top edge across?
flat black right?
i left the shutter open for depending on where i was 1 second to 4 seconds.

ufo holes - i used this adhesive aluminum tape... i dunno what its called, but its like thick aluminum foil, but its adhesive. hardware stores should have it (i think its used to seal pipes or something).
uhmm the piece im talking about... when you painted your lights, you know how you took that bendable curved silver metal piece off, and put it back in after you painted it (its right in front of the projector), its like curved and metal (the 03s have holes in them). paint that piece flat black and it will reduce glare a lot. but its up to you... i kinda liked it before i painted it, since i lit up the freeway overpass signs making me see them better ;)
damn i was lookin at my pics' properties and they were only 1.6 second exposure time =(. i need a better camera... with manual exposure settings (instead of the stupid "+1 +2" crap)

one more thing i noticed is my brights seem really dim and yellow now.
you cant really see them in the hid light but you can see it in up top.
kinda pointless to even use them now because my normal lights are brighter than them.

I've got the same kit. I'm playing with the adjustment right now though. I've blinded a few people already. :) And, like Evil said, the brights were pointless the way I had them adjusted. Don't know if anyone else noticed this or not, but the little satellites are actually dimmer with the 4100k kit than with the 5000k McCullough I used to have. Strange.

X-EVIL-X
04-07-2003, 08:56 AM
well installation wasn't too hard except for dremeling out the stock piece that holds the clip.
other than that they took a few minutes to put in and on.
finding a mounting point for the ballasts and putting back in the headlight.
not too bad.
they where i think 479 on the group buy. i think you dont get as much ufo's as the 5000k you had because it was bluer and it comes out more easily with blue than white. if you look at blue bulbs the ufo's are easily seen.
i dont think ill get pulled over with the color they are.
they arent bright color wise(6000k-10000whateverk).
they actually do more good than put out unneeded color like the higher temperature kits.

I also got the HID kits from the group buy, but it seems like i'm the only one with the 5000K kit. Now i see why i was the only one, the 4100k looks hot. Makes me regret getting my kit. Imma try and post some pics up whenever i get my digital camera. It looks really cool when it warms up....like from totally blue, to green, to whiteish blue.
Did you guys notice a problem with the DRL's though. It seems to me as if the HIDs knocked off the DRL, so in the daytime i'm driving with the HIDs on, even though i don't want to.

I covered up my UFO holes with the tape pokgai is taking about. Its a little difficult to do. I cut strips, then took a pair of those medical forceps and laid it down in there. Mince are kinda funny looking right now. I have Progress springs on the car, and I currently have the stock tires on the back and 205/50-15 drag radials up front. These tires are like an inch shorter than stock, so the front of the car is like 2.75" down and the front is way lower than the back. So the HID's are lighting up the ground the crazy :gap:
My only problem with the Xenon Depot kit was that their packaging is a little sloppy. My friend got his with no HID bulbs in it, so they had to resend them. Mine came with the correct bulbs, but the wrong wiring. Mine had plugs for I think H3 bulbs, so it wasn't exactly plug & play. I had to cut the plugs off the wires and solder things.
I also came up with an idea for waking the cutoff line completely purple, but it would involve taking the headlights apart. You would need a theater lighting gel (which are made to handle the heat of 1000W light bulbs) and you would glue it on your shadow mask inside the headlight with a very tiny lip protruding (like maybe 1mm). That way, all the white light from the bulb would be unaffected and only the cutoff would have the desirable purple look. Dunno...someone try it.

X-Evil-X,
If you find that you get high beamed to often, try angling down your lights a little. Also, if you do get pulled over just say that they were a factory installed Option!! The new Celicas have an option for HIDs.

yea but i dont think ill get pulled over for em.
i only got high beamed once and i was going up hill.
they dont really blind people unless i hit a bump and it hits there mirror or something.
they are pointed pretty straight right now.

I figured out what was missing from my kit when I looked at my friend's Xenon Depot kit. In the wiring that comes with the kit, there are black, two wore plugs at the ends of the harnesses. Then there are pigtail harnesses that plug into those that adapt to whatever bulb type you have. Mine came with no pigtail harnesses. But its way too late on mine, I already cut them and soldered the wires.

Does it really look like that in person....??
I don't think it does.... must be the exposure on the camera....
Even with S2k's HID doesn't come close to that.....
X-EVIL-X
04-10-2003, 11:59 PM
well it does look like that inside the car.
the exposer on the camera on most of the pics was 2 seconds.
some of them where 1 second.
it doesn't look really blue or really purple its just white with yellow and if you are driving the oposite way on the road you can tell its hid.
it doesn't look like bmw's how purple they are but it doesn look kinda like audi's hid's.
they are really bright though and will get whiter after time.
compaired to stock celica lights is soooo much brighter. our lights are really really yellow compaired to them.

I had the phillips 4100K stock in my M5 and I loved them...and they were way whiter than my stock highs. I loved getting people that would flash their highs at me to turn what they thought were mine down.
I have since switched over to the Phillips D2S 6000K bulbs and i love them even more. They arent quite as bright but they produce a more blue/purple color with a slightly less amount of lumens.
Try hids4less.com they are a pretty good outfit if you are looking for hid upgrades

Hello,
We are located in Toronto Canada.
Competition is good!! It keeps things healthy!
We do not carry any other products other than HID conversions however in regards to the fog lights, we have done numerous fog light conversions on both the M3 and the M5.

hey XenonDepot, how much would it cost to buy a H7 HID bulbs....right now I have a philip H7 4300k bulb I believe, it might be 4100k, not sure because I got it from someone. Also the wiring harness is different from what i have seen, Its an older harness. It has this type of connectors:
http://www.clonegts.com/Photos/DSCN1678.JPG
http://www.clonegts.com/Photos/DSCN1609.JPG
On one of the bulb, the black part that goes around the bulb cracked so its not sitting in place when i put the connector on. I manage to connect it but i want to fix it. This also caused the beam pattern to get a little messed up. Both side aren't identical. Can you quote me on 2 bulb and 2 wire harness. I already have the balastic and its working good. Let me know. And the picture are from clonegts website.

05-03-2003, 11:35 AM
Hello,
The bulbs are the most expensive part of the kit (at least for our kit). Philips bulbs are not cheap and that is why our kits are not the cheapest either. I can definitley sell you bulbs however it looks like the kit you have uses adaptor rings thus keeping the standard Philips plug on the ballast. Our kit use custom moulded bases to ensure proper fitment and beam pattern. As a result, we not longer use the standard Philips base or connector:
Here is a comparison pic:
http://www.xenondepot.com/images/3pics03.jpg
In essence, you can use our bulbs with your current setup however you will have to do some wire cutting.
In regards to pricing, please email me directly and I will see what I can do for you.

That was our 4100k kit installed. I believe that the picture was taken when the bulbs were intially ignited as the 4100k bulbs start off being blue and then fade out into bright white.
In terms of contacting me, please feel free to do so via phone (listed on the site) or even email me directly at info@xenondepot.com if you would like to avoid the long distance. I'm quite quick at returning emails.

i dunno, i bought the same kit as evil and my don't seem nearly that bright. i've had them adjustedt very high in the air, and they didn't like it the area l ike that, then i lowered them and the ground is more like.. but not like yours. ..
evil - think u could write somthing up about how u adjusted your bulbs to get that light output, cause i surely don't have it and i want it.
ive read the whole thing on ec about how to adjust ur headlights but it doesn't seem to help i can't really make sense of it. i know how to adjust them but i just didn't know if u knew how far away u parked from straight wall on a flat surface, and how high in the air is ur cutoff line on that wall. . . !?!?!

glare isn't really that bad unless you get lower where the cutoff is. they dont really blind you over it. its just hard to look at outside the car.

I wish I had a 4100-4300K kit. How hard is it to Dremel out that piece that holds the bulbs in?

LOL.....yeah. When I first saw those pics, I was sold. It's just the way Evil adjusted his apiture (sp?) and shutter speed.
If I EVER get my 4100K bulbs from XenonDepot (have been waiting for over two months), I'll take some pics of what they actually look like. Steve told me I'd be getting them this week, but they never showed up and he hasn't replied back to my email. A bit uncharacteristic of XenonDepot...

hi steve!
O and by the way guys...you might think your HIDs aren't that bright because you can't see the beam as contrasting as these picttures, but thats because you may have street lights or city lights that brighten the road already....so go to a dark alley or a dark garaged parking lot...and you'll see how much your HIDs are putting out.
Also make sure your bulbs are pushed all the way in and held on correctly. Cause i noticed if the bulb isn't...you get really crappy light output and an ugly ugly pattern on the ground. if you guys have any questions...please pm me or ask me here..i'll be glad to help.
