I know this has been done before, but I removed my unused cig. lighter and replaced it with an Ignited illuminated push button starter. Install was really easy, just removed the plastic around the shifter, unscrew the cig lighter housing and remove, disconnect the wiring harness and the little bulb inside. The button fits right into the hole with no modification whatsoever - almost like it was made to go there. Wiring it was a little complicated, only because I didnt know which wire to splice into for the starter. Once that was resolved, it worked really well. It lights up with my parking/headlights. Looks cool at night against my head unit (it has red illumination also). The unit was around $60.00, but I think it was worth it.

I plan on ordering mine when I get my car back from my sponsor. I don't like the idea of having to turn the key to the "on" position, so I am going to hook it up to a series of switches that must be turned on in a sequence in order to turn it on without a key. I am also going to have a hidden override switch to prevent the car from being stolen. That is also a good excuse not to let people drive my car. :D

ive never understood why people do that...u have to put the key into the ignition...why dont u just flick it one more click over and turn on the engine? now u gotta insert key, and reach over to press the button.. hehe also, what if u gotta use the outlet for anything? not flaming.... just wondering why u guys wanna do that....am i missing something? 60 bucks can get u clear corners and some hyperwhites.... :) once again: not trying to be an @##hole....

Ask Honda. Its the same way on the S2000. Its just a preference. I think it looks cool as hell and it would freak out your friends when you go to push a button to start the motor.
Great.. but where my cell phone charger and radar detector goes??

you can reroute the socket to somewhere else.. its not very hard its just a 12v and a ground.... about the wiring diagram look a couple of days back for a post called Repair manual and TSBs and you'll find our cars entire wiring diagram in there.
2 questions
1. what shift knob is that?:)
2. with this button, you can not use cig. lighter to charge ur cell no more?:(

Elik, shyvpboi: That is the B&M Shift knob that came with the B&M short shifter.
skatamatic: It works both ways. You can start it the old fashioned way or put the key in the "acc." position and press the button. There is a feature built-in to keep the starter from grinding in case someone pushes the button while the motor is running.
FriedRice: Ummm...looks good, possibly a few extra points at shows, conversation starter, something different, personal satisfaction...I could go on... BTW - I already have clear corners and hyperwhites. In fact, I have pretty much every mod under $60 already installed, so why not?
I dont charge my cell phone in the car (I have 3 backup batteries anyway), so the socket was just sitting there unused. As far as radar detectors go...mine is hard wired so I dont need the socket...Like GTS LAID said, just look back a few posts and use the wiring diagrams, thats what I did. ;) Good luck!
u wanna write up an instal guide??

it makes me think you could have like a buddy system when starting the car.....
you (driver) turn key over
passenger pushes button
and away you go !!
this might either be a little ghey if you both are guys but if theres a lady in the passenger seat.... you might getta start pushin' some more buttons !!!
looks cool - i dig it !!

wow cant you guys do a little searching.. it would take like a couple of hours at least for someone to answer your question but if you searched a little you'd find your answer in 2 mins.
heres a link to where you can get the push-button:

S2000 Ant, S2000 Starer, looks like we're gonna be buying up all the S2000 parts...
I wonder if the S2000 guys are going to get some celica parts, maybe we'll start seeing an S2000 with a celica Ant. :p

when you start it with the button, do you have to hold it down until it starts or do you just press it once and it starts?

First off the button isn't from the S2000, this button has words etched into it above engine start. Yota_racer thinks that it says "ignited", its too blurry for me to tell..so I don't know. Another thing, I was looking at the S2000 button before you posted, does it come w/ the same hardware needed to install as this already installed example??

Dude, that is awesome, definetely one of the most original mods I've seen, major props.
Sort of newbie question:
Never really been in a car with a starter like that, is there some kind of security instegrated in the system that would prevent someone that breaks in your car to start it? Or anyone can just press the button and drive away?
