its not fully carpeted its like wool carpet stapled on

I like the sub, and the amp seems like it will be able to push that sub. The only problem might be the box. You might want to confirm measurements to be sure it's ported correctly. But I would say good choice.

you will need a better quality amp to get more out of that jl sub.

Just by looking at the size of the port holes, I would be willing to bet you it has port noise at high SPL levels... Not to mention, that enclosure looks to small. I personally would look else where.
