Last week my car started squeeking like a mother. i took it into toyota, and they told me my belt tensioner went bad. i got it out of the shop, the noise is still there. they are telling me its my belt, which is new from when i put my AEM pulley kit in in august. so the belt is less than 6 months old. at any rate it sounds the same. sounds like a clunker. well i take it to the track last night and the damn car ran a 16.0 twice. it was liek looking at the same slip. and usually i am consitant high 15's, and i couldget get the bastard into the 15's i know i am doing nothing different, now i wanna know what the heck is wrong with my car! would a bad belt be causeing loss of performance, or is this tensiorner shot also? all it does it squeek???? the car is trapping in higher now, but everything else is worse? i got traction fast both times as well. this sucks!! i beat an auto gt-s and a v-6 camero both with mods by 3-6 cars, which is the only thing keeping me from shooting my car. well i am gonna go break some stuff to relieve some anger, lol jk.

Hello.

If weather conditions change it can change your performance at the track. 100 degree weather with like 60% humdity is going to get your car to run slower than lets say 70 degree weather with only 40% humidity.

Asian Honey's modded 96 Corolla DX auto and her modded 00 Celica GTS auto are both "squeakers". When the humidity is high they both squeak, squeak, sqeak under the hood around the belt area.

When you keep track of your times also keep track of the weather conditions. My old man and uncle use to both fly in the US Air Force. Part of their jobs as crew chiefs was to determine their max load and take-off weight and the one of the MAJOR key factors in this was air temp, humidity, and altitude. My old man said that when he flew on the C-121s and EC-121s that at max load in hot weather it took the plane about another 100-200 yards to take off dependeing on the altitude of the runway than it did in cool weather at a compairable altitude. The hotter it is the less dense the air is and the less lift the plane has requiring a longer "take-off roll".

So if plane engines and wings are affected this much by the condition of the air, how much do you thing your highly tuned Celica engine is affected? Doesn't take much to throw off the performance of a high performance engine.

no. i dont member getting moist. lol. uhh, yeah my car used to only swqeek in the morning for a few mins. now its always. even at high speeds i can still hear the belt. its annoying. i am gonna see what happened if i just replace the belt, if that aint it, something else went bad...................again.

Damn man, sorry to hear about that. Quick question, did you use the belts that came with the AEM pulley kit? Or did you buy a new belt? Reason I'm asking is because I've seen some posts recently stating that the AEM provided belt does not fit the Celica well. So may this has something to do with it?

Take care man, let me know if you're up for the track tomorrow.

do you have your pulley kit on yet? the belt that comes with the kit is pre-fab for a gt-s. the belt system is a bit bigger, i think the alternator is further away. i could not use it so i bought a new belt from dicount auto parts. and that belt is bad apparently amoung other things. so i have to buy a new crap belt from DAP. hopefully the noise will go away.
