Added some pics to the photo album showing the sub-box I have been working on.
http://uk.y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/stevenomorris
The box sits right up against the rear seats and has been made no deeper than the depth of the sub,to keep some boot space.
Since these photos I have blended the sides of the sub box into the side panels and have placed the PSOne in front of the sub.I have mounted two Alpine V12 amps on a panel in the spare wheel well and these have been arranged to sit flush with a quite low level false floor.
After all the woodworks done its a case of covering in black vinyl, plumbing the power and installing the speakers that have been sitting in my room for the last few months.Alpine DDdrive components up front and DDDrive co-axails in rear.By the time thats all done I hope to have the cash for the Alpine DVD which I will mount in a custom surround with the C800r head unit.
Will try to post some more upto date pics of the boot in the next few days.

thats so close to what i plan on doing. i mean, i wanted to do the alpine changer in the center console as well. let me ask you, what did you use around the edges of it? i'm also planning on doing a box in the rear just like you did yours just probably a little deeper and curved more at an angle so the subs face up more. i was going to do 2 10" jl audios. also plan on doing a false floor with amps below it with plexiglass if thats what you're doing. very nice work. any more pics and details would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response guys.
The surround for the autochanger was made from MDF,think it was a 6 mm sheet I used.Heres a rough idea of how it was done
1.remove console from car, remove screws and split into two half's,top and bottom.
2.hack away at the internal plastic until there is sufficient room/depth for the changer.Make sure the console lid can close.
3.Put the two halfs of the console back together and place tape all around the area you will be working on to stop scratches or filler/resign setting on it.I used brown parcel tape,it lifts off easily and because its very thin it follows the profile well
4.Offer a piece of paper up to the pocket opening and make a rough template of the internal area
5.Transfer this template onto thin cardboard and keep adding/taking here and there until you get an accurate fit.Allow for thickness of any covering that may wrap around the edges of the surround.
6.Transfer the template onto MDF and cut out.If the MDF does not fit in the gap at first mark with a pencil and remove excess.Best to do small amounts bit by bit
7.Fit the Changer in place and use masking tape to secure the surround in place if theres some play.
8.Build up any small gaps between the surround and the console with Isopon p38 which sets like plastic.
9.keep on repeating building up the p38 and then sanding it back down until the surround takes shape. This may take a few atemps
10.If req use some p38 filler to smooth things off.
11.Cover or paint etc
yeah, the amps will be sitting under the flase floor in the spare wheel well and will be visable via two windows set in the false floor.I was going to use some perspex but now I'm going to leave the windows open so that the amps can vent. The top of the amps will be sitting right up against the bottom of the flase floor, the top layer of which is only 4mm deep so they should look almost flush mounted

haha.. that looks really really similiar to the box that my friends are making for me except the amp and crossover are mounted on the side of the seat. so when you pull the seats down, you see the amp and crossover through two pexi-glass windows. thru the inside is a white neon that brings out the amp and crossover which have be vinyled orange/black/white cuz they were old and scratched up. they are almost done with it. Its also vinyled to match the trunk. hopefully i'll get pics soon.

Hi there,
Updated the photo folder to show the boot as it is after i've been working on it today.Still needs a few edges and corners tided up but getting there, not enough hours in theday to work on
this.Looks like I should still have a good bit of boot space left. The
PS1 is all wired up,the wiring for the amps is still to be done.Looking to get a 1 Farad cap which will be mounted on the side of the sub box behind the rear seats.
Will post some pics later in the week showing the various sections under the false floor and how they assemble together

Looking great! It's going to look awesome once you get carpeting or vinyl in there. Makes me wish had built a false floor and put my amps like yours. Oh well, that'll be a prject for my next car. I'm NOT redoing my trunk, too much work lol.

stevem, do you have the measurement for the speaker enclosure? I was thinking about doing something similar with a pair of 12s and my RF amp. Since you already did everthing can you pass the measurments along.
thanks

The sub I'm going to be (buying) using is the Alpine DDW-F30A to go with the direct drive speakers I have (to fit) in the front and rear. The sub is quite pricey, retails over here for around 500.00 GBP but I've been looking around and looks like I'll be able to get one for 330.The sub requires a sealed box of between 0.7 Cuft and 1.4 CuFt,the box I have made has an internal volume of 1.1Cuft which gives a Qtc of 0.7 this should give a bass response which is quite neutral (ie not too boomy or too tight) within a relativley small enclosure. The box itself may look quite wide and a fair size, but remember that it has a sloped back so the depth towards the top of the box decreases and the base of the box rides up and over the metal bar which the plastic tray normally sits over.
The box was made from 18mm mdf.First I made a cardboard template of the cross section ie side on view of the box and kept on adjusting it until using all the space against the rear of the seat but made it only slightly deeper than the depth of the sub to keep the boot space. Then it was a case of making an 18mm boarder all around the outside of the template to take into account the depth of the panels which will sit between the two side ends. The area of the internal area (of the template) left was calculated by transffering it onto graph paper and breaking the irregular shape into squares and trianlges (easier to calc thier area). This area was transfered from cms into inches.
Next up was taking the required volume for the box and transferring this fig from cubic feet into cubic inches. The figure of cubic inches (volume) is then divided by the total area of the template (side of box) to give the figure for the length of the pieces of the box that sit between the two sides.
Hope that makes sense, has confused the **** out of me.If unsure please ask and i'll try to make it clearer.
I did'nt actually work from plan as it was a case of making the template and adjusting it at the time. What I will try to do over the next few days is measure the side ends and post a pic showing the shape and the measurements, from this I will re-calc the internal area (based on using 18mm mdf.
Then to adapt this to your own sub its just a case of taking the req vol and dividing this by the area fig (which i'll post) to give the length of the pieces to sit between the side end.
Leave this with me and i'll try to update this post in the next few days

Not sure why its not working, tried using the [img] tag to display the jpeg within my post but shows as a clickable link rather than the actual pic.
Try this link to the Yahoo photo album where the jpeg has been lodged.
