Ok, last week I took my car in for some quick service. I took it to Jiffy Lube(I KNOW, I KNOW.....I was in a hurry and I have never personnaly had a problem with them before) Anyway, they changed oil, tranny fluid, inspected belts, ect. but also cleaned out the fuel injection system. Everything went smooth and no problems were found. When I left and pulled out on the street I punched it and there was a lag before anything happend. Not too unusual. This was at 2 pm and I drove the car all over the place until about midnight. Did not see any problems at all. The next morning about 11 am I got back in the car to run some errons and it was idleing pretty rough and the CEL was on. Now it does idel high and slightly rough when the engin is cold and it is cold outside but it was in the high 60's low 70's that morning. I ran to the store down the street to finish my errons and the engine was ok exept it would idle rough. I took it back to Jiffy Lube an hour later and they rest the engin by disconnecting the battery. They said it was because the sensors were seeing more fuel flow due to them cleaning the injectors and that was why the CEL came on and it was idleing rough because it was still buring off the injection cleaner. Well, sence then the car still idles rough all day long, but not consistantly. It fluctuates between 600 and 1200 RPM at random. I was planning to bring it back to them this weekend(i am working extended hours this week...no time to do anything). I got home from work about noon today and crashed, then took my girl out to eat at 10pm tonight. I turned on the car and it went crazy. It was idleing at 200-400 rpm and the engin was sputtering so damn bad the whole car was shaking in netral. I tapped the gas still in netral and it jumped up to 1800 rpm and slowly came back down to 800 rpm(the usuall idle spot) then the CEL cam on. It still idled rough like it had all week and on the way back home after driving the car for about 30 minutes it started sputtering in netral at a stop light fluctuating from 200 to 1200 rpm. ALSO, when crusing in 3rd gear with even pressure on the exelerator(not exelorating or decelorating) the car seems to lurch a little though i cannot see any marked change in rpm.

If that was me I would take it to the Toyota dealer and explain what happened. Have them them get it back to normal.
I wouldn`t let Jiffy Lube touch my car again as they have already proven their incompitence.
Since you will probably have to pay the dealer for this, I would then show Jiffy Lube the bill and demand reimbursement. If they refuse to pay, just threaten to take them to small claims court to recoupe all expenses involved.
If what you say is true you will shurely win, particurlary when you have your dealer involved and have all records, including the original jiffy lube bill for the work they performed that screwed up your car. Also, you already gave them the oportunity to fix it but, they failed.
I would expect Jiffy Lube to settle out of court. :)

I got a new engine from jiffy lube..my oil filter fell off and the engine made all kinds of bad scraping sounds...they paid for towing, a rental and a new engine...insist that they take it to Toyota for the replacement..:)

hmmm, i would take it to toyota, bring your service report from jiffy lube, and tell the service manager that every since they did some minor service to your celica, it has been acting up, and the cel has been on. maybe they will look into it, and fix it under warrenty(if your still in).

have anyone of u ever poored raw gas into a cup with greasy bearing....and the gas eats all that sh*t away? why in the hell would u need injector/fuel system cleaner when gas is already super corrosive and eats just about anything?
say NO to fuel system garbage.

Thanks for all the help guys. I took it to Toyota today. They had it about 3 hours and I got to pick it up just before closing. I talked to the service manager, he said they ran a compression check and it showed low compression in number 1 cylinder. Not quite sure what they did, the guy did not have all the details and it was closing time. He said there was some blockage that they flushed out. BUT, anyway, car seems to be running fine now. Will watch it for the next few days. By the way...paid NOTHING for this. Toyota covered it under warrenty!!!! Not going back to Jiffy Lube again!!!

habe you hit lift at all, it sounds like what my car was doing. when i hit lift the whole car shuddered and the extra pull was gone so i took it to the dealership the claimed there was nothing wrong(i left it there for four days) so three weeks later i dropped a piston into my oil pan. toyota bought me new engine.
