yo yo i was jsut up on the nissan site and i was checking out their new z car that's suppose to be comin out in like 200 days. it's 280 hp and 260 lbs or torque! BUT the best part is that it only starts at 26 g's!!! is there soemthing wrong with this car? why is so cheap for such a fast car?!

Its really not that fast from what I've heard due to its weight. I also learned through my experience with the Celica to never buy a first production year car.

i read on the site that it's expected to go 0-60 in under 6 seconds. isn't that quick?

I understand what you mean about not buying the first production year of a car, but as far as the Celica is concerned there were no changes from 2000 - 2001, and very few changes from 2001 - 2002... so even if you waited for the second or third model year, you'd get pretty much the same car... you would have more aftermarket support immediately after buying the car though.

What I meant is all the little stuff. Ex: everything rattles, the guagecluster, door handles, glove compartment, sunroof, seatbelts, interior door panels, even the passenger window rattles going down and more stuff I don't feel like listing.
But I still love to drive it for some reason.

They fixed a couple of bugs the early models had, such as the bad CD player and rattling moonroof.
The Z's speed and price isn't very amazing. Subaru sells a car that gets to 60 faster, and has more simple tuning potential for less that $25,000. It is a nice car, espescially for the money, and that is what Nissan has to do to reastablich itself. They save money by using that same 3.5l engine in most of their cars, that is the main reason the 350Z is so "cheap" Of course, through any of the option packages on there, and the $30,000 mark is surpassed, not so cheap IMO. The car isn't ver practical either. For less that $26,000, I can get more fun 2 seater thats looks a hell of lot better too. But I commend Nissan for finally getting their heads out of their collective asses. :silly

I forgot to mention the huge mark up the dealers are going to put on them. Probably closer to $30-33k

Good point. But that shouldn't last too long. At least it's not like the S2000 where they only ship over 5,000 or so a year. That markup should fade after 6 months.
The question is, how long before a turbo is out for that engine? It's been in production for a little while, and since almost every Nissan has that engine, there is mounds of money to be made from an aftermarket s/c or t/c. If that comes out, the car will probably sell more.
But it is still very ugly!

you guys are nutz, i think that car looks really nice. the interior is really unique as well IMO but i don't dig the orange seats. what other car could you get for under 26 g's that would be faster? other than the wrx.

A little info about the 350z
the z line cars have always been a 50g car with a 25g price tag
the car will be really nice in about 1 year, once everything is out as far as aftermarket goes. the car is gorgeos, as well as interior styling.
just my opinions though :) i still like my toyo better :)

I don't think it looks bad. I'd have to see it in person.
Nobody knows how fast it will be since it hasn't been released yet.

just so you guys know, they changed alot of stuff from 00-02 that you dont even realize... the cams are different in an 00 then an 01.. the ECU is different in 00-01-02... the shifter gates are different in 02.... lots of little things i found out when rebuilding my car..
i also will never purchase another car in its first year to be the guinea pig.. but the new Nissan Z does look prettty bad ass.. i was reading Sports Car mag.. and it says on there they designed it to compete with the Boxster S so it should run high 13s.. :)

Sounds like they fixed the rattles in the 2001 model Celica. Go to the dealer, most of the rattles are already TSB's and can be fixed for free under warrenty.
Can you elaborate a little more on the changed cams larry? This is something I have never heard of before.
Also, the shifter gates on the '02 are also found on 01's made after June of 2001 I believe. A TRD guy at a dealership was telling me how the TRD short throw shifter bolts in really nicely to earlier Celica's, but 01's after June and 02's require a little more work to get it connected.

The new 350Z looks amazing. Nissan is truly uping the ante with their VQ engine.

just something i found out when replacing parts for my Celica.. the 00 and 01 Celicas have differnt part #s for cams, and different part #s equals different parts.. dont know what they did though.

:silly well... for about the same price you could be getting a Lancer Evolution VII in a near future... 2003 i think
japanese model 0-60 = 4.4 or so and you also get AWD
nothing beats EVO

nothing beats EVO
except in the looks department maybe :P
I'd rank the Evo in the same class as the WRX, a very fast Mimi (from the Drew Carey show)

Hey I have an idea, every time a new car comes out, let's post over and over NEW topics about it and not do a search and assume that nobody else knows that the car is coming out!!!!
