lookin to FI in the moderately near future. I was wondering what kind of engine work i should get done first in preperation for the turbo.
also, those of you in the same position (waiting for turb), what have you done to beef up your internals? im fairly new at this so everything is helpful. thx :biggrin

nothing is out yet to beef up yer internals.. youll want forced pistons and connecting rods.. mmm titanium valves would be nice :)
btw.. there is a forced induction forum.. im moving this there..

A big fatty exhaust pipe doesn't hurt.

The VVTi can handle up to 1 bar (around 14.5 psi) before you need to rework the internals. At anything over about 6 psi you are going to have to lower the compression, this can be done with a thicker head gasket although you will need one made up to spec, perhaps this is something Dave Draper is includinbg with the kit ???
Other than that, I would look more towards the exhaust and traction problems you will have. A friend of mine runs a turbo New Beetle (2.0l), the original exhaust lasted about a month before the back box burned out.
I don't think the kit from Dave Draper will need anything bar what is in the kit, try asking them direct.
Cheers

Try searching around within this site, this topic has been hit in the forced induciton and performance forums. The stuff is available, and has been for a while. I'm planning on buying Crower rods and Wiseco pistons through http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com , as soon as I decide for sure if I'm staying NA or going with a turbo. They have rods and pistons, any compression, for the GT and GTS. Somebody else said they could get the JE pistons for $600/set, but that's too rich for my blood.
