Yes, I ordered mine about a month ago...
I didn't have to put anything down or sign anything yet. I guess they need a VIN number first. They quoted me 4 or less months.

Wow, they didn't even take a deposit? I had to put a $500 refundable deposit down before they'd order mine. I only had to wait a week though :). The dealer I went to found a car with everything I wanted at another dealer so they just shipped it over.
ok i didnt order the one i have but i did put one on order before i found this one. He said it would take 6 to 8 weeks, and i put $100 dollars down. The only reason i didnt wait for that car is because i found 2 others in dallas tx(about 2 hours away from me). It should only take 6 to 8 weeks unless you ordered the action package with it ..... i heard it takes longer if you order one with that.

I order my GT-S....and it came with only 1.9km in the odo. :biggrin
Yes I had to put a down payment, which was $2000 cdn refundable.
Also I had to wait 3months and 1 week for my car.

Wow - I ordered mine in Houston and they found one at a dealership in New Orleans. It only took 1 week for them to ship it over here. Didn't have to put any $$$ down - in fact, they let me "borrow" a base model Carbon Blue GT the entire week because I didn't have a car at the time (lost it in a flood). I guess it pays to have a family member with "connections"

one more thing... is it more expensive to order your car?? do they add some kind of extra fee or something? and do they give u the price of the car when you order it or after the order goes through and wen the car gets delivered to the dealer?

I would agree on a price and get it in writing before you order it. Dealers have been known to change the price on people at the last minute. There is no extra charge (that I know of) to get it ordered from the factory rather than drive one off the lot they already have.

I ordered my GT-S with action package on Oct 24, still waiting. They wanted $1000, non-refundable, check or credit card. They won't actually charge my credit card unless I back out of the deal. There is no extra charge for ordering the car from the factory. We did agree on a price before it was ordered. I was told it would take between 8 and 32 weeks for the car to arrive.

When I ordered my GT-S, I signed a contract with the dealer which is basically say that.....
The dealer must sell me the car at the lowest price and finance rate between the date of order till the date of arrival. If not, the dealer must give full refund of the deposit.

I ordered my car in the first week of december and they told me I won't get it till something in february, but no exact dates yet. I could've gotten a black within a week, but I wanted a red, so... It all depends on the luck of the draw, and also what colour you want, I called the salesman back afew weeks ago asking about blue, yellow(which we have in canada) and white. But he tells me that those are the rare colours... And they don't have any at the local dealerships. And yes, I put down a $1000 deposit, and negotiated the price, the contract I signed says that if i don't get my car in 90days i can get my money back... So i dunno, I was thinking maybe I will go buy another car if they can't get me a Celica cause I am really in need of a car for school, especially in the winter... I dunno, maybe I will buy an RSX since there are tons of those around... maybe no one is buying em =)

Well, I gave my sister my 93teg(my first car) and am drivin an oldsmobile cutless supreme for the time being.. And I gotta say, domestic cars are pieces of sh*t!!! I've driving 4 Domestics, 2000 neon, chevy corsica, oldsmobile cutlass supreme, and my friends oldsmobile calias(i dunno how its spelled  ) Anyways, I just like the way imports handle... Plus the resell value is terrible on domestics... As for SUV, I dunno, not my style... I'm a pretty small guy, 5'8 or 5'9 can't see myself in one of those big ass SUVs, too bad toyota doesn't make those two door RAV4s no more, thats probably the only SUV i would consider buying, if you can call that an SUV... But anyways, I prefer the smaller cars, lighter, faster, cheaper and easier to park   Plus, I'm still in college and am as poor as hell, so until I can afford that beemer, I'm stickin to the import

I don't know, maybe dealers are all different. I tell you what, the dealer better not back down on my deal I made after I wait 4 months or they are going to have opened a big can of worms. The dealer is a smaller dealer, and is in a small town. I could have ordered it from another, but figure I would want to order it local to support them. If they screw me on the order, I will make sure to let others know. They end up making my order a great buying experience, and I will praise them and recommend others to buy from them. Do dealers think that trying to milk a few hundred dollars/thousand etc will make them more money. I don't think so. The customers (prospective) will just talk bad about them and spread the word that they got shafted, thus losing more buisness for the dealer.
Anyways, I was told that Toyota dealers are not stuck with the car if deals break up. I also heard that they go through regional distributers, which adds more time to the order process.
Anyone else told that a VIN has to be created before you can sign a sales agreement?
