Ok, I have to say that I am learning a few things by reading posts and I did do a search on this topic before I posted and I didn't see anything that answered my question but I could have missed it. Here goes....

I want to know what the difference between Coilovers and Lowering Springs are? I'm looking to achieve a 2.5-3.00 drop on an 03 GTS. I'm going for show and some go. I will probably never take my car to the track since there isn't one close to me however I do like to race my friends every now and then (they drive mod'd camaro's and firebirds) I've read in different posts about the handeling of some coilover kits etc... Even though i'm going for show my car will still be a daily driver so I don't want it on air bags or hydro's. Any suggestions on what I should get would be great and an explanation on why I should pick that certain one would be even better. Thanks.

well since your going show events and not really any type of track events. i think your best bet would be coil over sleeves with new shocks. you can also get a true coil over setup but like you said your going show.

a good combination would be skunk2 coilover sleeves with kyb AGX's. another good coilover is ground controls too.

if i was in the position to be taking off struts and stuff, i would get coilovers and here is why. lowering springs keep the struts compressed constantly and thus they wear out quicker. now, i have had my trd springs on for over a year and a half now and have had no problems. they are a little bouncy but not terribly bad. so on coilovers there is no strut to wear out like that. the second reason why is you can fine tune the height to where you want and lastly, they are less of a pain to install. you just take out the full strut assembly and then put in the coilovers. much easier than taking struts off, putting springs on... blah blah blah.

Thanks k2, that kinda helps out. Think i'm gonna just go with the coilover kit.....Tein I am told has a nice kit for our cars. Now....with coilovers, I don't need springs like eibach or anything like that right? The coilovers should do the job? Just making sure, I don't want to leave anything out. Some kit suggestions would be good too!

Shouldnt you also get an alignment just about everytime you change the height? Atleast I think you're suppose to? Although, I don't think most people do, and they're fine. ;) :)

it depends, for the most part, i would set it up at the height you plan to keep it at. if you do minor adjustments you should be fine
