Hey guys, I'm an Admin over at Celica.net, and I'm passing along this to you guys. I know a couple of the guys on here (like Adam for example), but not as many as I would like. NC.org has a very thriving Florida forum, so I wanted to make sure you guys know about this.

Us over at Celica.net are going to be organizing mini-meets every 2 weeks or so through the month of May and through early June, these will be leading up to a large meet in late June or early July.

We will be meeting on the UCF, University of Central Florida, campus and heading out from there. If you are familiar with the campus, we will be meeting in the VAB, Visual Arts Building, parking lot. I will post, or if anyone would be so kind, directions to this parking lot for everyone not from the area. Any question, concerns, or comments PM me, e-mail me at quietducks@hotmail.com, or IM me at quietducks. I know you guys have a lot of experience planning meets, so if you would help me out I would very appreciative.

I'll try and update you guys as much as possible, but this page will be updated more often. http://celica.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=000242

Here is the map with the location of the parking lot.
http://www.celica.net/quietducksgt-s/pictures/ucfmap.jpg

I don't know how many of you remember the HUGE meet last year at Race Rock, but we want to replicate it. With your help I know we can do it.

Thanks for reading,
Will

P.S. Would a Moderator please sticky this thread? :)

Okie dokie, I'll sticky it and send ya an e-mail. Jotan organized the Race Rock one. I organized the last big one we had in the Sea World area. I'll help you as much as I can. Could you please keep checking back here and make updates as well?

Btw, we are going to have a big meet around HIN. Maybe we can coordinate that with celica.net as well.

Thanks,

Fin

The first meet will be May 3rd, then every two weeks after that until June 28th which will be our 'big' meet that we hope everyone will arrive for.

I will be putting up the site dedicated just for the June 28th meet.. but in the mean time here is a map (maybe a bit better.. dunno) of where we will start our meets.

http://www.celica.net/June28/map.gif

If its not obvious enough, the parking lot outlined in yellow is where we will be meeting (as the key states).

The first meet will be May 3rd! (as stated previously), we will meet at 12PM! Probably chill for awhile, enjoy the cars, take some pics but no definate plans. The reason is because we want people to just get into the habit of coming and meeting people and enjoying that.

At a few of the last meets, people always HAD to have something to do or planned.. well.. guess what peeps.. with a bunch of people there is ALWAYS something to do. But the biggest complaint I have about the past meets I have held is that people where so oriented on something to do.. that they didn't even walk around and get to know one another! Thats is completely NOT what a meet is about.

Those of us that do attend these 'mini' meets prior to the big June 28th will enjoy ourselves that much more because we have gotten to know one another. Not to freet though, June 28th will be the day of the 'event' which we will be attending Moroso's Slicks & Race Cars ONLY at the 1/4 mile strip.

This means we will be going on a cruise to get there from UCF, and then attending the races to watch. It will be a lot of fun, and I hope that people will come to the meets prior to June 28th so that they can come and meet up.

Also.. this is going to keep going beyond June 28th.. every other weekend we will have the celica meet's in the designated UCF parking lot all summer.

Come, enjoy, meet people, cruise, eat and watch.

Po9i: Not to worry bro.. as long as you get the info you need.

Luna: Thanks for the credit.

Ken: Nope, still in Jax.. but Orlando is still the most central spot and all you O-town peeps are pretty active so its the most logical area to have a meet with high participation.

Hope to see lots of you there saturday and through out the following meets.

Really.. thats what I expected, this is short notice and it is the idea that every two weeks they grow because people will be able to schedule around them in advance.

It was short notice.. I let everyone know monday about it.. you can't expect 50 people to show up with that short a' notice for a meet. We had 6 people show, and I actually stayed in Orlando till about 8:15PM.

Truthfully, it was one of the better meets because it was smaller. It was easier to cruise around on the streets because we didn't have a huge number of cars that we didn't have to worry about following.

As for stoners.. ya I mentioned something of that nature because it was my vacation actually.

All in all though.. people whine and complain that the Florida region is dead and that we don't have enough meets... we'll peeps.. here are your meets, so start showing. Otherwise, don't complain about it. Race Rock might be to everyone's eyes as the best/greatest florida meet there ever was and will be.. but for me, it absolutely sucked. For me, yesterday was more fun than race rock. I went and saw Xmen2 with some of my board members on c.net as well... it was a very good and very successful meet reguardless of the size.

I'll be every excited for two weeks to go by now, because people should be able to plan ahead and get time off or what not to show. So the turn out should be much better.

You know.. when I really thought about it...

2002GT_Celica, your from Orlando.. I drove all the way from Jax for a small meet and you couldn't even show and post that your thankful that you didn't... thats ****ed up bro. No one ever seems to do anything around in this state unless I put it together, and when I do people respond like you.. really makes me wanna say **** it all and not have or go to anymore meets.

Whats the point if some people in ****ing orlando.. can't even from across their own city at best for a meet... what is that crap? **** that.... this is exactly why I haven't put together any more huge meets like Race Rock, because people always complain and have some **** to say... no one can ever just be happy it seems.

If your so thankful you didn't come.. don't worry about showing to the rest of the meets, and if you do.. don't even bother introducing yourself to me. I'm so ****ing sick and tired of whinners.. all I've heard for a year is 'when is there going to be another meet?', or 'lets plan to meet up' or something of that nature.. its like no one can plan to hold a meet around here, and I actually spend my time to organize it.. set it up, spend money for the gas, put the miles on my car to ****ing come to your backyard.. and then you complain about it? **** that.

wow u made me register cause this thread agrivated me...

how can u say u were glad u didnt go to the meet because it sucked?

first..it DID NOT suck..i had a better time at this meet WITHOUT my car than i did at the bigger ones. i actually got to meet and hang out with other celica enthusiasts....at the larger meets i just huddled with the people i already knew...

second...by you not showing..it made the meet that much smaller..and since the quality of the meet is apparently judged by the size..it is YOUR fault the meet "sucked"

so dont be afraid to show your face and your car at the next meet...afterall it will only enhance it...just dont whine...the meets are great no matter wut size they are.....so please...join in on the fun and if u dont..your loss

Clayton's Efforts
i'm sorry you don't get commended more than enough for your previous efforts in organzing and directing celica meets. but to be honest central/south/west florida has done well without your recent endeavors.

Orlando Not Reppin'?
i don't think so. orlando is probably one of the strongest areas in conjunction with south florida. we take it to a different level, where its not about the cars anymore but the drivers which are also our friends. but sorry to bust a bubble, but some people have other responsibilities and interests that keep them going in their lives. a lot of of the orlandoians where out of town or had prior engagements to attend to. because you had a fluke with barely a handful of other celi ownders that may have flaked on you don't brand the region. i hate being put in a box.

Race Rock
you took the initiative, you took the direction, you take the responsibility. lets face it you were dealing with a large froup of attendees that were well under 21, why would you know expect any complaints nor questions. yes, you are no one's babysitter but you were expected to be the leader of the pack. a true leader doesn't tell people what to do, they guide their team to achieving the group goal. there's no "i" in team nor meet.

Whinners
hate to point the finger but according to recent actions you're kinda one too. personally, i have nothing against you clayton. i think you're a nice guy and i liked it that you laughed at my jokes (even if they were sad) but all this bitchin' is not you. if people complain, let them. you take the higher road, say you're two words (literally) and move on. not everyone is going to like the meets, not everyone is going to like everyone. but its whatever. i can understand some hidden sentiment that bad words would spread and that few would show in future meets. but i have to say that in rep for the central/south regions (even more so toyomotion) we are a little more mature than that and have our opinions. just because one dude said it sucked doesn't mean another won't go. again, don't put us in a box, cuz you ain't the maker.

i hope you don't take this too personal (kinda hard not to) but if you wanna take it offline then that's cool too. again, you're a cool guy. stay here awhile.

Luna

whoa, what happened here? :)

Clay, I have to agree with some of the points that Luna made. It was a bad weekend for most of us. I would have loved to have come but I had made plans for Saturday before this thread. I'm glad there are bi-monthly meets now at UCF.

Anyway, I do think that 2002GT-Celica was a little out of line here. C'mon guys, let's show each other some respect here.

Anyway, Clay, were you not invited to the last big meet? I organized one a month or two ago and we had 24 cars :) Not as big as yours but it worked. Of course there were some folks that were complaining and whined, but you have to do what you have to do, the thing is not to take it personal. There's always a few a-holes in the bunch that are gonna say stuff. Dude, come to the bbq May 10th :) I'll be sure to be at your next meet in two weeks.

Don't give up the love you have for organizing meets man.

Peace,

Fin

No no.. don't get me wrong guys, I'm not upset at the whole situation... just that one comment really kinda hit a chord on a much larger note for me.

It kind of goes along the line of more efforts on celica.net and more whinners there as well etc, and I'm just very very tired of it in general.

Yes, I am aware that the South Florida crew and the Orlando crew have been doing good while I've taken a break from meets.. but it was just very disappointing to read the afor mentioned post. There are people in Jacksonville and Tallahasse as well that we need to hit.. I guess I'm just looking to large. At Race Rock I had a person drive in from Kentucy, at the Sea World meet I had a person drive in from Atlanta. Then when I think about someone maybe right next door can't get off their ass to come over to a meet, but yet still comments on what they did not participate in.. really pisses me off.

I won't let one bad apple spoil it all though.. understandably numerous people could not make the meet because of its very short notice (which is not like me either..but though meets would be fun again). What really bothered me is that I'm realizing that the huge meets are not where the fun is. Its stressful, so many cars to deal with, getting packs lost on the road... etc. Race Rock actually got better for me after the mall shoot.. where Luna, myself and a few others headed over to a local show.

Luna - I think you took the post a bit wrong though.. it was not intended toward anyone else but the guy that posted. I understood that the mass if not all of the o-town crew would not show because you guys posted and let me know this. I'm not trying to put you all in a box, just getting some steam off my chest.

The meets will go on.. not to worry Fin, I'm not going to let a few bad apples spoil it.

Wow, this thread really erupted, and I had forgotten all about it. About what I said, I meant it. I heard that only one 7th gen person showed up and that the people there were a little strange. I mean, who goes to a car meet and is like "you all smoke weed?" Wow, what a great idea, smoking weed at a car meet so you can get high, get behind the wheel and possibly kill some innocent people. (sarcasm for the dim-witted in this thread, y'all know who you are)

That, my friends, is irresponsible and unacceptable. Call me out of line Fin, because I may be, but I meant what I said. I don't do drugs and I try and stay away from people who are into that stuff as much as possible as nothing good can come of it. The truth is that I was planning on going to the next one, I couldn't go to this one because of a death in the family, but after hearing about this week's meet, I'd rather chew glass than be caught dead at a dismal car meet with a bunch of stoners.

Sounds good to me, I won't lose any sleep over it. I'm not the kind of person that wants to piss anyone off.. and yes I do smoke on occasion.. its not something completely unheard of (it was mentioned for a meet on another Toyota board as well) but I asked and put it right in front of everyones face so that I DIDN'T piss anyone off. If anything, thats cool to be up front with people and make sure their ok with it before you go and do something rash.

Also.. as for irresponsible.. I dunno who you are, but your not my mom, nor my dad.. and even if you where, they couldn't stop me from doing what I want to do. You don't even know me, so don't judge a book by its cover.. thats what I call naive. I dunno how old you are, your gender, your political view, etc.. and do I care? No.. thats not the point of a meet.

As for a dismal car meet.. hardly the sight (have you read any of our posts from those of us that where their on the 3rd and stuck around? [besides your one 7th gen boy that dipped]). So what.. one 7th gen owner showed.. HOLLY CRAP FOLKS! Its the end of the world.. the 6th geners actually out numbered the new celica owners. Hate to break it to ya bub.. but their are thousands more older celica owners than new celica owners. Its not the end all be all.. so stay with your GT Auto and I'll keep my 3S-GTE in my old car.
This is just another example of you making quick judgement with a lack of foresight.

As for everyone else... sounds like we've got a lot of people lined up for the 17th now.. and Will and myself are planning to have some XBOX's with Halo ready.. if anyone else here owns and XBOX.. or owns and XBOX and Halo.. please let us know.. we would like to have a lan party and there are people that would like to have some beer (OH NO! lol) but as I have stated on c.net I will be collecting keys at the door if you plan to drink (hows that for irresponsible?)

Well take it from someone who was actually there. I was the only 7th Gen, and I decided to drive the 45 mins to an hour to meet new people. And to tell you the truth you 6th Gen'ers didnt represent the best. The guy with the light blue one was cool, He showed, chilled for a bit then dipped. As for the dude with the orange Celi, Man u are way too concieted. You talk of your car as if it were the best car out there. We brought up a 7th Gen one with similar paint and it was like u looked down on it b/c its paint job was similar and in your eyes yours is sooo much better. And if you think so my a boys 93 Supra turbo (new ToyoMotion member) has an orange paint job that would make yours look like a sittin turd... And he would prolly put yours to shame. But thats besides the point... So as for me being at the next meet, I would rather not... I hate to put it like this but its just how I felt about the situation.

Actually.. if you all knew me well you would know that I don't talk up my car.. and I don't even consider it fast yet. My point of my post was to kick the 'I have the newest car, so I'm better' feeling down a notch or two that most of us older celica's owners get.

Also, if you really knew me.. you would know that I hate that orange.. its not that I look down on anyone doing it, I feel sorry for them because I have lived with it. I'm a rolling target, and I just hope that people realize that a cop on the highway will see them coming a mile away.

Even if I was talking up my car.. which I wasn't even doing at the meet.. A Supra and my Celica is like apples to oranges. Even though.. I do think my celica is better than a Supra... why? Because it is more original.. and that is completely the reason why I have a celica and not a supra. With my T3/T4 I'm picking up friday.. its going to be hard work for most street driven supra's to keep up with me anyways.. but did I say that at the meet? Did I sit there, open up the hood even? No.. why? Because I don't talk up my car kid.. your full of crap.

As for if you want to show up at the next meet or not.. its cool if you don't want to. After you left we all went to Will's and where actually all commenting about how you where 'anti-social'. Which is to bad. If you would have stuck around you would have had a lot of fun.. I didn't even end up leaving Orlando until 8:15PM.. there was a lot of day left.. and you make the experience bad for yourself. The only person that can rain on your parade is you bub.

Anyways.. I'm done talking about this crap.. I know there are 7th gen owners out there that are not like this.. and as I stated before I'm not throwing you all in a box and labeling you. So I hope to see all of you that are actually looking forward to having some fun on the 17th!

Well buddy, I was quiet b/c you ignored me from the point I parked my car. You had that "oh a teenager with a new car mommy and daddy prolly bought" look on your face. Which is the wrong as hell, and then you say dont judge a book by its cover.. As for anti-social, please ask everyone else that meets, in a meet actually worth going to, how anit-social i am. And then when u brought the whole weed thing, it turned me away even more. And its not so much of talking your car up, (b/c lets face it, theyres nothing to talk up, it looks pretty ordinary to me) its talking everyone elses car down. And let me tell you I see way more Celicas than I do supras. So as for ordinary, try again pal. And even though I dont know, not like i would like to, everyone I talk to about you has nothing more to say then how big of a dork you are and how you thrive on the fact that u think your car is top quality... Wrong again, but we could go on forever doing this b/s so Im out and I hope you guys have fun playing video games :gay: and getting drunk at the next meet. :lame:
