a friend and I have set up a track day, march 9-10, at little Talladega, in AL. it will be all small displacement engine cars since, last year we had a bunch of vettes and they tore up the concert. mainly Honda guys but, they need the competition. great little road course with lots of track time. we have know set it up where you can use paypal, thus taking the worry out of not knowing who your giving money to.

go here for sign up and more info: http://www.bseries.net/html/events/talladega/

where do most of you guys live, I'm in middle Tn.

Thanks for the info. I want to go to that event soooo bad. My Uncle lives in Birmingham. He has a bad A$$ Supra twin turbo so I might stay at his place to save some money. I live in Augusta GA. Where is the Talladega track in AL? anywhere near Birmingham? Thanks bro.

175..........it would most likely be worth it but I am strapped for cash after my recent upgrade frenzy. Good luck though! Represent!

I've done the talledega thing before and here's a few things for anyone planning on going:

bring change of clothes, and towels. it'll get nasty as hell out there in the sun (or rain). BRING SUNSCREEN. and your helmets. and your cameras. and water.

don't stay out too long, dot3 brake fluid (i think that's what we have) won't take it. take my word for it, when your brakes start to get squishy, they suck ass.

have gas money ready.

arrange for someone to bring lunch, or bring a lunch with you, or bring your lunch to the track. nothing like chomping down in the press box with cars zooming by.

bring stuff to rotate your wheels, you'll probably want to.

on that note, get ready to lose some mad tread off your tires.

if you're going clockwise, there's a bump right before the first turn, it's a doozy. If you have springs it's not too bad, if you don't, you're going to lose a lot of time there. Either way though, brake some before the bump otherwise you're gonna spin.
Be careful shifting into 4th. that tracks already claimed one celica due to a misshift. it's really difficult to justify 4th gear on the track when you go clockwise. counterclockwise you can hit it, but be careful shifting plz.

Give your car a break after a couple minutes though, I can't stress this enough. I'm not sure how this one is set up, but when i went it wasn't scca and we were out for as long as we wanted. 1 minute in autocross does nothing, 15+ minutes on a track at a time will seriously push your car. It needs to rest just like you do after sprinting for 15 minutes, take a cool down lap, pop the hood, and take her into the pits.

you might also want to run with the a/c on vent (air from outside) and the temp on heat (with ac off, you're just venting air off the engine). watch your temps throughout the day too.

It's a ****load of fun, I definately learned A LOT about my car that day and If i had time (i'd find the money) i'd do it again. There's also a LOT of safe opportunities to go 11/10th's on the track, you're gonna reach and cross the line between control and balls out spins a couple times and it'll be loads of fun (as long as you don't spin into the trees, or blow your engine).

last year, in my civic, I boiled the fluid chasing my buddy in his ITR. this course is small and is as hard on your brakes as you make it, just use common sense and everything will be fine.

over heated my car twice, because of the turbo. like I said before its as hard on your car as you make it.

I think we are going to have some good instructors again, alot of ITA guys from atlanta.

not really, might want to inspect your brakes before. make sure fluid is clean and pads aren't worn.
