Dammit...
Just got back from Les Schwab...and yepz...my right rear rim is bent. Not as in..bent the lip..but as in the center portion of the rim is bent slightly outta wack. I can understand the lip..but come one..the center is like bent inwards... :(
My rear feels alright..but I can definetly tell there's some instability at 80-90mph.
FUGG. How in hell do you bend a rim like that? A pothole? A curb?
I haven't hit anything since I've owned the car, and I've been really careful with it.
Man.this is gonna cost an arm and a leg...what should I do? Replace that one rim, or get a whole new set? I want new rims, anyways...but damn....I'm about to leave.
My household goods are being shipped out on Monday (so I can't ship the old rims), and my car is getting shipped out on the 15th of May. Grrr....

Most likely a pothole or hitting an animal etc. Why are you feeling your rear :chuckles: If you want the cheap fix maybe they would be able to bend it back out for you at a tire store. If not then just buy one rim and worry about new ones a little later when you are a little more flush with cash.

I jumped a curb several years back doing about 40 mph...made the entire rim out-of-round, like elipse shaped.

Cuz my rear is like...pretty nice. :gap:
Hmm...
That's probably a better idea...do you think I could drive on it a bit without any problems...I imagine it's pretty bad on the bearings, though, isn't it?

Most likely a pothole.. South I-5 around Tacoma and Federal Way is crap.. Wait, did they finish the construction down there yet?
Anyways, there's this huge pothole on Nothbound I-5 that I hit going 75mph, I freaked out, luckily the stock rims are tough :)

well from what i have heard is that the 93 rx7 wheels are very fragile. So any extreme sliding could cause the wheel to twist. Ive seen other causes such as dirt and rust or something of that nature build up on the center of the wheel so that the wheel wont sit flush with the hub and cause it to wobble. It could be a lot of things.
I work at a wheel repair shop so i know a lot about this subject.

This whole area around here is one big craphole.
Yepz...checked out the flushness (is that a word?), and it's fitting fine. We threw it on the balancer, and that thing wobble like a sumabiatch. :wtc:
I'm under extrreme time restraints, here....

Why don't you see if you can buy a used rim off another RX-7 owner?? Oh and the butt comment was just :gay:

Hey..I have a right to feel my own azz...I didn't say anything about feeling someone else's azz, now did I? :fawk:
The problem with the rims...is that most people that I've seen sell them as sets...they don't want to sell singles...a new one from the factory is like 300-400 buckaroos. :AF:

you did not try Dukes of Hazard move jumping over a broken bridge did you? :chuckles:
Seriously looks like you just recently dynoed your car, could your car put out so much HP that its too much for the rims? Not sure how you can bend inner portion of your rim without you knowing it or doing crazy move. Maybe you just got unlucky and got 1 defective rim out of 4.

You could whack a 3" tall median at 60mph like I did on Saturday. That puts a nice big dent in your wheel!

i have a spare rim. e mail me at marzooq81@msn.com if you want to buy it. it'll also come with a brand new tire.

well he might want to swap the tire... new tire will push better than the other one, unless he want to wast new traction with good new tire and put it on the front (one being pushed) he should change it to the tire thats on the bent rim. Later when ready to change tire use the new one on one rim and buy a new on for the other... Just a suggestion :)

Ya, man...zooq, I'll email you. I have no idea if I can get it...if I did buy it, I'd have to get it before the 15th of May...so it'd have to be quick.
I'm either going to buy one immediately, or I'm waiting till the car is shipped to the UK, and buying a whole brand new set of rims.
My tires are brand new, by the way...and I don't think there's any damage to the tire. It's just the f'ing rim.

well if you are going to do this check out how much rims cost in U.K., if they are rediculously high it might be a good idea to get it now :)

Thats cool but stickyness of the tire will make a difference too, if you have a new sticky tire on one side and the other not as sticky it will not be fun driving that car :)
I know by this because one of my new tire was flat so had to change it right away, turns out those tires I had on my car was discontinued so had to get Pirelli P7000 on 1 side... bad idea... It keep pulling toward the P7000 side. I got another one for the other side and it solved that problem :)

Heres how you can save money
1. Give me the car to watch over it :)
2. Leave the car in my garage so i can watch it,
3. Did i mention give me the car?? :)
Why you bent your rim
1. Your wife took out the 7 while you were asleep :)

Well..yes, Coolmike...I gotcha..I'm dialed in on ya...
Ya know...that last reason might be true, if only for the fact that I sleep in my car. :gap:
Oh..and your answer to 1., 2., and 3 are: No. No. And No.
But thanks for bein' a pal....
