Exhaust Burn on my Bumper

Well, while waxing the car I found that the stock exhaust pipe (or a different exhaust pipe, I bought the car used) must of come in contact with the upper left (when viewed from the back) portion of the back bumber exhaust indentation. I would like you suggestions on how I might hide this. What I was thinking was buying some of that foil tape (the kind used to repel heat) and put that all around the indent, thus making it appear to have a chrome surround around the pipe and also covering up the ugly black melted paint/plastic. BTW, my car is Super White.

Luckily the burn is mostly on the underside of the bumper, so people can't see it while casually glancing, but I KNOW it's there, so it is bugging me a little. Thanx for any help!

so if u get a bodykit and don't have extended exhaust, why does it burn up the rear valence or bumper?

I have no idea how it got burned. The rear valence is stock and the exhaust is stock. I can only speculate as to what happened. Maybe it had a different exhaust pipe on at one time, maybe he backed into something which pushed the tip up, who knows. All I know now is that the exhaust looks fine now but there is a black burn mark on the lower bumper.

So do you think my cover-up idea would work? If you have any other suggestions please post them. Thanx!

Is your Celica still under warrenty? If it is, you can have it fixed for free as a warrenty issue.

Unless they could determine that there had been another exhaust on there.

hmmmm, maybe I'll give a dealer a call them.
