Okay so one day im driveing on the highway i hear a loud poping noise somewhere in my car. My speakers and subwoofers all start sounding like **** like when you have a tv on a station where theres no channle. And i have an engine whineing noise. Take my car to a local audio place so they start looking into it. I come back like two hours later and my cars interior is completly striped. They cant figure out the problem. Charged me 100 bucks for labor/troubleshoot. They told me the problem was with the head unit. Im going to be on my way tommarow to see if i can get a new head unit but i doubt they will do it. I have an 03 yellow gts celica i have the pioneer dvd screen deck, Momo componets front and back, MTX 502 for front componets, MTX 502 for rear componets, some kicker impulse series for sub power, and 2 15 mtx subwoofers. Now they did tell me that a screw was in one of the rca cables that was used to screw my amp down. I dont see how this could all of a sudden happen. They also told me that all of my amps are f***ed up. So im left with my second f***ed system. Does anyone know what causes there to be loud distortion noise when the volume is at 0 and engine whine noise. And also when i would turn my car off all speakers would sound like ****. Im not sure if these guys new what was wrong at all. And i dont wanna go get it checked out somewhere else so they can charge me money and not come up with a solution. Do i really need new amps and a new deck? thanks for any help.

If the deck still plays and seems to work fine then its not the deck. The engine whining noise is more than likely a bad ground. More than likely your amp blew. Have an audio store test out the amp and see if it still powers up.

Yeah, I agree with Personafied. If there is a screw through the RCA cable, it could have taken time to work it's way into the wires. That would cause a short, and fry something. And yes, alt. noise is most likey from a bad ground. As Personafied said, take it to a shop or a friend and test everything outside the car. And test each item by itself.
If this is your second system that got fuc$ed, try going somewhere else, or doing it yourself.

That's a good idea, too. Pull everything out and look it all over. Got a digital multimeter?? Check to see if the RCA's are shorting out. Then check each item one by one. If you don't know the problem(s), take it all out. A good weekend project.

Same thing happened to me or almost same thing, yea sound is probably a ground wire problem but thats nothing serious, it ended up my sub short circuited my amp or vice versa. i had to replace both the amp and sub

a screw through the rcas may be causing the alt whine though. especially if they're shielded rcas. because the screw then takes that shield and transfers the noise right into the wire.

I have a 300/4 and a 500/1 JL amp and I would never get anything different ever.
