View Full Version : that darn light

Got "check engine" light last week ('01 GT, about 75 K highway miles), took it in for service where dealer identified codes as "all E.V.A.P. codes" and cleared them. The exact code numbers weren't noted on the bill. Was told it could have been a loose gas cap.
Light stayed off for 5 days, then came back on yesterday. Gas cap's on tight.
Also, I'm back at the dealer tomorrow for a new drive belt.
Could a worn drive belt produce E.V.A.P. codes?
That light is so distracting I can barely see the road.
Any ideas, or am I about to watch these guys start looking for a needle in a haystack, which would be drag considering I'm now off warranty because of the mileage.

They need to "re seal" the evap system vacuum lines.

Thanks, NX - what's involved in "re sealing" the evap system vacuum lines? Forgot to mention in the original post that the car is behaving absolutely normally.
