I took my car into them to get the transmission fixed under warranty monday, the transmissions second gear was grinding.
while they are doing this I had them install the TRD LSD in the transmission. I got quoted 500.00 for parts and Labor on the LSD install (it was cheaper because the transmission is going to be out of the car)
Well I get a call today from the dealership saying they wont install the LSD into my car. because the head technician said he would break too many parts in the transmission and they did not want to pay to replace the parts HE would break while installing my LSD.
I told them that the 500.00 price for install included stuff like that. The dealership said it would be waaaaay more than that and for one of the parts(that the tech would break) alone it would cost 300.00. So they said they would not install the LSD. They did say they replaced my transmission since they old tranny was FUBAR (see the tango and cash movie for a definition of FUBAR).
What do I do?
I called toyota corporate and opend a case.
LAW, i remeber reading that you got charged about 450 for taking your tranny to the dealership and having them install your LSD. If at all possible could you provide me with the name of the dealership that did that and where it is located, also any one else who has had an LSD installed at the dealership please contact me ASAP.
HELP!!!!!

is a toyota corporate the same as a district rep?
when i had a problem with my dealer i contacted toyota. nothing happened. finally i found ways to get to the head honcho and it turned out to be a lady with the title "district rep". She was more than helpful and the $1,200 the dealer was trying to charge me, ended up being covered under goodwill thanks to the rep.
I believe every state has these REPS so try finding yours. They have the power to even the service manager's ruling.
Goodluck dude

Yea the 2nd response might also be your best bet before getting into a situation that might not be easily resolved.
Go to another dealership and make sure the front desk doofus specifies whether or not they can do the install.

BTW did they do work on your car already? Do not let them touch the car because if they can not install a LSD I would not want them to touch my transmission, will go find another Master Technician who can do the work without breaking something and stick to the $500 quote to install LSD.

okay I have an update,
The dealership that would not install my LSD was claremont toyota, now there is nothing wrong with the parts department, and David D and Edrick, but the service department is where the problem is comming from.
I got no where with toyota corporate, The district rep can only help with warranty issues, my issue is not that.
Called west covina toyota, and spoke to a couple of people one person the Customer service managers manager (big cheese) said he would drop the price of th e install 150 from their normal price and he knows the service manager at claremont personally and that he would see if claremont would pick up the rest of the money for the install so that I would only have to pay the origional 500 quote that claremont gave me. The guy gave no promises about claremont covering the difference but he said its a shot.
I am also waiting for a call back from David D who is trying to get a hold of a private shop that can install the LSD.
So as it stands I have two options, Thanks for anyhelp and support you guys may or may not have given, I fell a little bit better but I still dont like the fact that claremont toyota service screwed me!
oh and for the comment about why dont i just pack up my stuff and go to another dealer I couldn't because they ripped apart my transmission already when the told me they were not going to install the LSD, and that they would not put the damaged tranny back together and install it.
So I had to pick up my car with the new transmission in it with no LSD.
I got screwed because I bought the part from claremont and got a quote to install it, then when it comes time to install it they say they cant. and wont help me with getting it installed or paying for it to be done at another dealership.
not me man, you gots to be thinking of someone else!

WTF? Yes, what is that all about?
It seems to me the is something else going on with this dealer.
:bs:
My friend bought car with cut springs, and all along they were telling her that they were aftermarket springs. Another dealer verify that they were not, and had been cut. Then when she call Toyota Coorporate they open the case and call them. All they wanted to do was to say that they will give free oil change...Like that helps. By the way people cutting springs from 1 year old Celicas ...how about that? or covering small dents with a different color of white paint? i mean, i feel sorry for her, but the previous owner was an ass.

Aight I have an update:
I contacted KAAZ USA, and they quoted me a really good price 448.00 for the install!!!! and the guy (ray) was very cool! he was willing to work with my schedule to get the LSD installed.
He also is hooking me up with a KAAZ LSD for close to the price I paid for the TRD Diff, great thing is KAAZ lsd's have 6 clutch plates vs, trds 4 and the kaaz plates have a bigger surface area, plus free diff oil.
I guess all this B.S. with the dealership worked out for the best because now I am getting a better LSD installed for CHEAPER!!! and its from a trusted shop! I am pumped! its going in the end of may!
Thanks for all the help guys!
oh and it was WAR that tried to do the LSD install by himself not LAW, my bad LAW, I guess I'm a lil dislexik (i think thats how u spell it)
