Hi i just got the GT-S 1 week ago (upgrading from a GT auto to 6 spd GT-S)and i only attempted to launch my car once ... but the ground was wet and i had some tire hoppin :silly: . Well since i now got this manual car driving down pat (first manual car), How do i safely ... and correctly launch the car ... what do i rev it up to , and do i ease the clutch out , or let it out quick ???
ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated.

rev to 4500..slip the clutch and as the car starts rolling dump the clutch and mash the gas..

Yea, but what up with the clutch burnin smell?!! I am very gentle with the clutch and still get some burning smell after I have to take off quick (like 2k or so). I really got it the other day when I had to reverse quick. I slipped the clutch at around 2k and it stunk up the cabin. Anyway, this is a common thing right!? (Just normal aggressive driving to launching here)

Take it into the dealer to get it checked out. Sounds like your clutch doesn't fully engage. It shouldn't stink up your car at all with a 2k clutch release. Even if you do as larry described above which is exactly the way you need to launch. You should barely be able to smell any clutch if any. I never did. Even after 15+ launches in one night at the track. The clutch actually felt better, slightly more forgiving than at the beginning.

EXACTLY ... i did a launch at 3000 rpm and the clutch now feels great (i dont know why .... but it does ) !! well i have done 3 grand tops so far and its an good launch ... it griped good.
Maybe one day at a track ill try 4500 (little scarred to do so ... but ill do it LOL:rolling: ) Ya and about that clutch smell ... maybe youd get that smell if you JUST got the car and its brand new .. but if you had it a while it shouldnt. I feather tha clutch at 2000 rpm in trafic and never had that smell. Well maybe the first time i did it but thats it. Keep me updated on what it is.:chuckle:

The strange thing with my car is when i first got it and the clutch was new, I could slip it and get good take off at 4000-4500rpm's.

Now i can only launch at about 3000rpm or will get massive wheel spin and wheel hop if id do it any higher.

Either my clutch is wearing out pretty quick or its just my tires getting worn out. Pretty annoying.
