Sorry admins this is kind of an OT/cross-post but I only got a few responses to my thread over in the Wheel and Tire Forum.
My question is: which tire is better? the Dunlop SP 9000s or the Toyo T1-S? I am looking for maximum dry grip. Wet grip woudl be nice too, but it doesn't rain that much in Southern California. Does anyone hav eexperiances with both tires. I am stuck, people say that they are both awsome tires and I can't go wrong with each one, but which one would you think is the best.

I have heard you should stay away from Toyo from many people but thats just what I have heard I don't know too much about tires

Dunlop rocks!
maybe it's a bit overpriced, but not for what you get.

I have the SP9000 and luv them. I was also looking at the T1-S both are great tires. I needed a little better wet grip so I went with the Dunlops. You cant go wrong either way though But I chose the Dunlops. The dry grip is def better than stock compared to the T1-S I am not sure but I bet they are very close. Hope this helps.

Sorry to go a little off-topic, but I just want to add that Nitto 450's suck. Those tires are much worse than the stock Yoko's.

Dunlop 9000's are not known to have the best dry grip. Toyo Proxes T1+ had a very good reputation for dry grip but many people don't like the T1-S as much. Of the two tires, I'd say the Toyos will give you better dry grip. However, I'd seriously look into the BF Goodrich g-force TA KD's for dry grip.

Thank you for your posts everyone. I'm goign to ask a few more people I know before I get them so does anyone else have comments on these tires?
Jesse IL: Why do you say that people don't like the Toyos as much?

i have the toyo T1-s and i had kumhos, sumitomo and re730's before... the T1S is by far the best tire out of all of them........ great dry traction with great wet traction.......ull be amazed on how they can just slice through water puddles......i can also rev my car up to5 grand and dump on the clutch......ON WET RDS.........and spin a lil bit then hook up like i was in dry pavement... this is an amazing tire to me......u;ll have a hard time getting this tire to loose traction on turns as they alos grip well on corners........i highly recomend them
BTW the reason ppl say toyo sucks is because of a certain model that toyo make, i think its called FZ4's or something but its the low model tire that toyo makes and which do sux

don't forget to check out the bridgestone So-3s they are amazing tires, has some of the highest ratings in the tirerack survey. Amazing tires in dry crazy amount of grip esp when corning hard, and a great performer in wet also.
rocket kumho makes some great tires, the supra 712 imo the best value tire out there, has a good amount of grip, great in wet, very cheap, and last freaking forever. kumho's race tires are awesome too, the victoracers are very commen with auto-xers here.

Karim: I was going to get the So-3s but they are a little to expensive for me. On tirerack.com they are about 145 a tire. Does anyone know where I can get them cheaper? Where else can I get tires for a good price? Right now I am leaning towards the Dunlops.

I was lookin at Goodrich Scorchers, 205/40/16. They any good?

Thats size is way off stock for one. Also Ive heard these tires blow grip wise. They are more of a show tire. I dont mean to sound like a dic* but just telling you how it is.

Thanks for the heads up.
I had seem em in adds and on TV, in fact, the TV shows them on a Celica. Thought that it was weird that they didn't make original stock size.
I'll look at the Dunlops.
