I brought mine to Best Buy when it crashed. Sure, I know a computer crash is nothing to fix, but I just don't have the time nowadays. But yeah, Best Buy is great, but a bit expensive.

Marc knows his junk, so do I, but as a prelimanry question is if you had a surge protector on that baby, cause if you didnt, chances you fried most of you computer....
If you did have surge protector on, then you still might be screwed. how do you know that its just your video card and speaker????
but hey I know marc has some of that magical stuff that might make it work..... i dont know of any comp. place near ocoee expcept for best buy, but like they said, expensive

i did have a surge protector on it. i took it to a shop today and they cant take a look at it till friday. i know its not just the video card. im almost positive the power supply got shot and the harddrive (maybe the controllers) are shot too.
heres my problem if you might know whats wrong:
after the lightning struck the computer shut off and wouldnt turn back on. i went into safe mode to backup my work. then did full system restore. it worked but the video card wouldnt install. i took out the video card n returned it to circuit city for store credit. after that, i couldnt get into windows anymore. everytime i do system restore the computer crashes after it finishes. i cant even get into safe mode. ive never had a problem this bad so i have to take somewhere to be diagnosed.
house insurance will cover damages as long as we pay the first $500. so im considering maybe even just getting a new workstation. i'll know after i get the estimate.
thanks!

Well, with the problems you are having, taking it to a computer repair shop is going to cost you an arm and a leg, at least at Best Buy. I had them do a hard drive backup and re-structuring of the computer, which is easy work, and it cost a little over a hundred dollars. I know, I know, doing it myself would have been easy, but I had no way of backing up my entire C drive since my other computer has a measly 10 gig hard drive.
And the Windows re-install was only like $20, so I said **** it, just do it all, I'm lazy.
