How much did everyone pay for the 30,000 mile tune up when their in for service? What was involved in the tune up?

-Change transmission fluid
-Check all the brake stuff
-Rotate tires
-What else?

I'm going to bring my car in for warranty stuff and might as well get the 30,000mile tune up.

Well, if you mean the 30,000 mile maintenance, I just paid $122 yesterday. That was pretty much everything on their check list except for the alignment (-$50), oil change, and transmission maintenance (I have a manual and their not due for maintenance till 60,000, that also knocked a good bit off the price). They did everything you listed plus checked and cleaned the throttle body and probably 1 or 2 small things that I can't seem to remember. They origonally quoated me a price of anywhere from $250-$360, but that dropped when they went down the list and asked me what I did and didn't want done, and again the manual tranny. The actual tune-up on the other hand is differant I believe.

Did you go to your dealer or a shop?

just get the mini service, the other ones a rip off. you can replace the fluid yourself with redline for about $30 and have redline tranny fluid. and you dont need a fuel filter at 30k miles. i paid $119 out the door from the dealer.

Got it done at the dealer. They replaced the Serpentine Belt as well and are going to replace the water pump which they found was leaking, gotta love the warrenty. Was kinda hoping they'd replace the tensioner though.

Well, I just call in to ask for the price of a 30,000mile tune and the service person quoted me $430. Damn, what a ripped off! I should have say I had my car service there in the past, when the service person ask me have I ever have service at their place. Maybe that would help to lower the price. Anyways, I going to find another place to get my car service.

Well, I thought tune up and maintenance service is the same thing. Anyways, that what does tune up do? Is tune up mean refilling all the fluid on the car?

I'm going to get the 30,000 major inspection with some other stuff, which total too $158. I taken some off of the list also, which some I didn't need.

All I've been doing is getting my oil changed, which I do most of the time, check all the fluids and what not already.

Am I missing things that majorly need to be looked at?

Maybe this will help. This is what I'm bringing my car in for.

I did the 30K mile service myself. The local dealer wants $330. There's no way I'm paying that much. Here's the list of stuff I bought:

-stock air filter
-ATF fluid
-winshield wiper inserts
-coolant
-oil and filter
-rotate tires

Also remember for future reference that Toyota uses your service history to determine how well you took care of your car. For example, I am out of warranty now (61500miles) and they are doing $1200 worth of engine (paid by toyota) because I had all of my service done at toyota (including the 30k). If i went to other shops, or did them myself, I would be paying 1200 bucks right now to fix my engine.

No, there is a policy that the dealership have to prove that the CAI would cause a problem to the engine and will cause to void the warranty.

To save you from all the hassle with the toyota, just take it out and put back the factory one on when you put your car in for service for engine work..

You have a pretty nice dealer thats willing to do that work when your out of warranty.
But also if you went to the dealer for all your service you also have to think you probably already spent $1200.00 or more in labor already.
