View Full Version : Do your hatch stoppers look like this? Pics inside...

Do you think I should complain about this? The stoppers are not aligned correctly, and I always thought the hatch was hard to close, and now see why, but now the stoppers are cracking and warped.

Anyone else's look like this?

Actually, mine still look showroom new after two NY winters.

I did hear dealers will replece them under waranty if they get too bad.
Just complain that they are causing the hatch to "squeak" and they shouldn`t give you any hassels over them. :)
It only takes 5 minutes of their time.

Actually, mine were starting to head that direction, but I began occasionally hitting them with silicone to eliminate a LOUD hatch squeak. The dealer should replace those under warranty without question.

It happened because the stoppers were not aligned with the top teeth attached to the hatch lid. They are a little dirty, but I was trying to show the smashed/cracked look that was a result of use over a year. I have a 2002.

Thanks everyone. I guess I will get Toyota to replace them.

I was told by the dealer that they would not be covered under warranty because it should have been a regular maintanence item to grease them that would have been taken care of if I had my oil changes done at the dealer. So a hearty F-U to the dealer and I bought a set that looked fine from a junkyard for $10 total.

That is absolute and total BS!!!
I`ve had my Celica`s oil changed by the dealer ever since I got it and they never "greased" them.

It appears to me that Toyota got a bad/defective batch of these rubber "stops" from their vendor (perhaps they are all bad?) and that`s the only reason they are deterierating.
Of all the rubber on the car it`s a bit strange that these are the only thing some people have issue with.

Also , how Fu**in` cheap can a dealer get? Replacing these will only cost the dealer a couple of $ at the most and 5 minutes of their time!
