View Full Version : I do not want my car anymore...(read my story)

Sorry to enter the forum on such a negative note, but I am at wit's end! I had my 2000 GT-S for 6 days before it entered the shop. I have never ever driven a 6 speed before and made the common mistake of taking 2nd for 4th on the 5-4 downshift. Needless to say, all hell broke loose. Slung a rod, new block. Under Warranty. Cracked flywheel. Under Warranty. Now, Toyota does not allow the shop to replace the head unless it is irreperable (sp?). They sent my head to "their" machine shop. Car was ready last Wednesday. Service manager, king of all bull****ters humbly tells me that their is a problem with the valves seating, and they are going to have to disassemble everything again just to have the head checked out. New valves now, under warranty. Toyota pays for a rental car, for 3 DAYS. I wait over the next week as we arrive to present day. Kind of excited, kind of skeptical as I enter the dealership. "Okay, Mr. Poole, this is what we've got going on..." as he proceeds to ramble about the SAME DAMN PROBLEM! Now I'm being told that once again it will be next Wednesday. Now guys, I have friends who have been through complete B Series engine swaps in their Civics, which have been ready in usually 2-3 days, max waiting time 1 week. This is engine, axles, trans, ecu, and shift linkage. So who wants my Celica as soon as it gets out of the shop? The blasted thing only has 15,000 miles on it.

by the way, that's 3 weeks they will have had my car on Wednesday. 21 DAYS
That's really bad, soz to hear. Maybe you should take it to another Toyota dealer?
Anyway good luck with it :)

Maybe it will be back to normal when it's fixed. Otherwise, you mis-shifted, so it's messed up - it's your fault for mis-shifting, but it's also their fault for jacking you around and not accomodating you. Maybe we are not hearing the whole story. Did they give you a free loaner?

At least you don't have to pay money for YOUR mistake. You should be happy.

I agree that you shouldn't complain too much since they are paying for your mistake. More misshifters should be as honest as you instead of rambling on and on about design problems with the tranny. In defense of the dealer, they are probably following rules that higher up powers have given them. Also, diagnosing problems related to a misshift can be tricky. Some people just bend a valve. Some people (like yourself) have far more extensive damage. I simply bounced my car up a curb, and it's taking a lot to figure out what's bent. At least you're not having to pay for stuff like I am.

would you rather have her back better than ever or bring her back after a couple of days. the guys putting her back together will make sure that there's nothing wrong with the car when you get her back. just be patient and you'll see she will be better than ever.
My car's been in the shop for close to three weeks now, waiting on one part....I'm really getting sick of taking my car in, it's been in the shop for 35 days since I've owned it (one year). I don't race it, and I've never misshifted it..

If you're not paying for anything, then what reason does anybody have to lie to you about it? A couple weeks inconvenience is not that bad of a punishment considering the dollar amount of damage you did that you dont have to pay for.

I can understand this stuff the more I hear it...after awhile I'm sure everyone wonders why they got this car, between the problems, the fact that it's a f*ckin wallflower in terms of aftermarket, and that you almost never hear, see or read anything about celicas anywhere...

I gotta agree with the rest of these guys. You should be pointing the finger at yourself. Your the one that screwed up your car in the first place. And put it in the spot it's in. You should be thankful the dealer is trying to get it right before they give it to you. Alot of people get thier cars back and it's still screwed up. It's difficult waiting for your car to come back. We all know. But such is life and it happens often. Just be glad you didn't buy an RSX and blow the motor. You be stuck with the bill as well.

Nope, but I would still probably take the Celica. It can't be that much different than the Celica. I know the clutch in it is longer, which I hate. And whatever difference there is in performance is easily made up for in the far superior styling, of course my opinion, and less likely to be stolen or vandalize, insurance is probably less too. I don't care about that "another integra" exclusivity crap. If I like a car, and someone else has it, I'll still get it.

I was just asking from a driving aspect. Looks are subjective. Having driven both cars, I can tell you there is a good bit of difference. The clutch on the Integra can be adjusted to have the same engage point as the Celica with some simple adjustment. Also, the body roll on the ITR is much less, so cornering is much different. You'll also notice the ride is a bit firmer. Oh yeah, don't forget the LSD which is a big difference when you're driving hard.
I understand it may not be the car for you, and that's fine. I was just wondering if you had experienced the performance difference. That's all.

I see just as many Celicas on my side of town. I see a lot more GTS's than ITRs.

I was implying all integra's.... To the untrained I, you and I both know there is no way other than the wing and the stickers to tell the difference btwn the models of integra.
So are you saying that there are more Celica's than Integra's runnin around?
LIKE I SAID in the other thread. To car enthusiasts, I can go "wow, that's an integra" but to the average person.... they ain't gunna know the difference.
Here in Minneapolis, I NEVER see Celica's. I see integra's EVERYWHERE. -----I have seen, ONE ITR here....... but I see white integras/blue/green/anything... all the time.

I do see just as many Celicas as Tegs. I also see as many Mercedes and Accords. That's just the side of town I live on.

I usually see one or two every other day, but integras are everywhere - it's true
