Beetle Turbo

was on Va Beach Blvd at a redlight..I notice headlights coming from behind really fast and Im thinkin its a Celi also..as it comes closer It turns out to be a New Beetle..some fresh cut guy driving it, kinda surprised me since all I see around here are females driving Beetles..I asked my wife who was ridin shot if it was a Turbo, she didnt know...the only way you could tell is the Turbo badge on the back and the rims..she didnt know..well anyways back to the race..I kinda had a feelin this guy was gonna try something after he gave me a "this guys got a Celica and Im gonna smoke him look"...wasnt really in the mood..when the light hit green..I said aww what the heck, we both take off..Im in the lead all the way through 3rd, about 1 1/2 carlength ahead..my wifes already asking me "whos racing you", so Im thinkin "Oh I guess this guy wasnt tryin after all" so I slow it down back to 45..but when I look in my rearview hes comin in fast and does a riceby..and gives me a "I beat you smile"! I was like WTF? It turns out to be a Turbo Beetle.. We come up to another stoplight, but he turns off..O well! Does anyone know the numbers on the Turbo or the new Turbo S? I was thinkin of tradin my wifes New Beetle in for one and working on it also...

I think its 180hp, 174 ft lbs.

That's what the Jettas and GTIs with the new version of the 1.8t have, anyway.

and i thought they had 150 hp

Just changed for the 2002 model year.

i think only the Beetle S is 180.. the regular turbo is still 150 i think..

Is that the Beetle turbo still at 150?

I know the GTI and Jetta are 180, now. The VW dealers are making a big deal out of the boost in power.
