Might be last week's news, but it's a Grand Am car.

It's got a Lex engine in it. Why don't they just paint LS430 lights on it and be done with it
Hmmm....well anyway, thought I'd put these up.

500hp @ 8000 RPMs. Pretty quick I'd think. 4.3L engine. That's about it.

Well, if that is indeed the 4.3L v8, then prospective 2005 Supra buyers need not worry...
It seems that this engine CAN be tuned to rev and make good power (not even FI yet)

That Car is in the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype class. They are racing next weekend @ California Speedway. I'm thinking about going to it. I've never seen Sports cars race yet.

As you can see the only real difference between the Porsche FabCar and the Toyota FabCar is the headlights. Both pictures are early race pictures from the 24 hours of Daytona this year so have the headlights taped over. Daytona Prototypes have to meet very strict rules and have to go through an approval process of each piece of the car. The Chassis and body of both the Porsche and the Toyota car are both built by FabCar and are essentially the same car.
Who cares what it looks like, it would be a blast to drive and you have to recognize that an entire breed of race cars that has existed for less than a year was turning 1:52s for the Toyota and 1:50s for the Porsche and Ford at Daytona. That's as fast as the more powerful and MUCH more developed Porsche GT3s were and faster than the GTS cars. By next year when the concept is better developed and reliability is hopefully improved those cars will be a lot of fun to watch.
If you have a chance to go see a Grand Am Cup or Rolex Series race I'd go for it, it's very interesting to watch the different classes and the different lines they take through the same corners.
