the guy that was having those problems with hypersports and his motor is my friend and he is not exaggerating on what happened..
this is what happened...... he went to sonics first but they were taking so long to the job that he decided to just go to hypersports. they quoted him 6000 dollars and he had to wait 6 weeks just to get his car back... does that seem like they were working on it? on top of that he got charged 7000 dollars . he went there and when it was time to pay they said that he was going to have to pay an extra thousand dollars. so he did it but when he drove the car the powersteering did not even work!
they also shoved the battery right in the corner so that they had to put a rubber piece in between so that it would not short cause it is so close to the body. if you seen what kind of job the did .. you would see that it was not worth the money

really? I talked to my friend who works at hypers a couple days ago and he told me that they worked things out with the guy and that hes happy now. Is he happy with the job they did or was my friend just saying anything to me.

I remember seeing his car on the lifts several times at hypers. Only once did I seen them fitting intercooler piping and even then they were talking story more than working.

Im gonna have a sr20 pretty soon so Im curious how this ends. I want to learn from others experiences so that I wont make the wrong decision.

I have nothing against hypers but this is just my personal observations.

I've always believed that the quality and speed of the work you get done on your car at local shops usually has something to do with who you know there. If you dunno anybody, that's taking a chance.

well i just rode in his car today and it runs pretty good... the thing that hypers did wrong was that they did some sloppy jobs like on his power steering does not work, his battery-- they had the kit to put this in like he wanted... but they never did it..
its just that they didnt really do a professional job and they also ripped him on the price.

Hypers has always done a good job of taking care of the guys here. The loss of Mike Irion (their resident Nissan nut) there sucks tho.

I turn my own wrenches on my car tho as much as possible, so I can't vouch for their labor practices. The few times I've gotten lazy and had them do anything for me, the installs have been clean and the labor prices have been fair. I've seen questionable work tho, no doubt. If I were to go there, there's only a couple ppl I would trust to do work on my car.

The price sways from person to person... like anywhere else, it's likely that you need a hookup to really get a good deal. Often, Hypers does very well with competing with mainland prices. But for certain things it's smarter to shop online.

Did he provide the engine or did Hypers source it for him?

so did he have to pay more for parts or labor? why'd they raise the bill on him?
