01 Sunroof Replaced with 03 Sunroof by Dealer

I had my sunroof which had its tint start to peel and flake replaced today by my dealer with the 03 glass sunroof. I was told that all 00-02 sunroofs that need to be replaced will be changed to the 03 sunroof. The only thing replaced was the glass panel and they didn't have to change anything else. It looks much better now. If you have the same problem that I have bring it to your dealer because it is a TSB issue. I should've taken pics of my old sunroof before they replaced it.

My ride is not under warrenty. They still did it. It was not a wear & tear issue it was bad manufacturing.

hmmm, mine has like scratches only visible from the inside on direct light, but the tinting it's still all there...no flaking.

I have a large streak where the tint has peeled off. I wonder if my dealership will fix it for free? I have 100k+ btw.

Same here dude... check out my thread in the Repair/maintenance section. I am in the process of checking with the service manager to see if they will replace mine. it is peeling as well and it has all those streaks going through it. It was Toyotas mistake for using that darn plexy-glass to save on weight. I think they should replace em all regardless of mileage, which i have a lot of (70K). Plus the sunroof is like a $900 option that should not be peeling and shyt.

Mine had alot of stress cracks that showed up when the sunlight hit it. They changed it for the 03 Glass one too. Sooo much clearer.

Mine has a lot of cracks that look like stress cracks in it as well. The other day I noticed rust on the underside of my sunroof by the drain holes and took it in to the dealership and they told me the regional rep wants to look at it. So know I am waiting for the regional rep to come back in town in June.

I had the spider webs and the tint flaking. It seems to be darker then the old roof.

i hear that it depends on what you clean it with. Like if you clean it w/ windex, that is actually a source for the spiderweb designgs, etc.

they only replace the glass? umm didn't they change the motor too due to the heavier glass? umm please tell me you guys looked into this as well. You glass might look good but i don't think you want your window motor failing....

Yeah it specifically says in the manual not to use windex to clean the sunroof, only soap and water.

i see a bunch of spiderweb scratch type things when im on the inside of my car looking up...should i take it to the dealer to get replaced?

Hey i dont think iv ever cleaned mine from the inside never knew what to use on it .. and the outside has just been washed with car wash soap and mines peelin ... stupid sunroof shade is stickin too
