DOH.. I think its about time to buy my new turbo so I can put fools into their place :)
I was racing my friend Jim in his Eclipse and we went by this Ram Air TA.. well right as we are both about to turn onto Jims street the TA rides by me and revs his engine.. Im like NO ****ING WAY.. so I dropped it in 2nd and stayed straight instead of turning and proceeded to run with this TA.. we went from about 40 to about 90 and he only put about 2-3 cars on me.. haha sucker.. wait till i get my new turbo and your toast :).. haha.. all and all even though I lost I was still proud that I hung somewhat with him.. I gave him a thumbs up at the next light where I turned right, not sure if he saw me or not..but I tried :)

yeah... a ram air tried to race me once, i couldnt take it after like the 5th rev... so i started halling ass, him too! I was ahead of him for like 3-4 secs, then he passed me =/
its ok, I hung with him too :) i wasnt upset. That thing was all shinny too, looked like he had just taken it out of the dealer.

yeah my dad has one and ever since he bought that MONSTER Ive always loved it, especially that "whiplash" feel like your gonna break your neck when it takes off :bowdown: ..hes got mods here and there..even though in stock form they are almost deadly...but who wants to complain..everyone wants More POWER!! One day I hope he'll that beast down to me!!:naughty:

20G.. bah.. man with a 20g Id be running 11s.. Im gonna put on a Big T28 with FMIC and it should drop me into the low 13s high 12s.. then mid 12s with cams :)

Hey Larry..! Good race....Why don't you change the engine head for one of an early DSM... the ports are almost 50% bigger with lots of flow. That's the bottleneck for the newer DSM's. Also forget the mitsu turbo and go for a garret swap...! Much cheaper and trim's options.
You can get a used head package for $300-500 that will give you 35-40 whp out of the bat.......!

prolly close up to about 90ish.. but then youd pull away from me cuz the Eclipse has no top end.. not with the stock turbo anyhow.. once I upgrade the turbo it would no game..

Man you can get 12's with a 20g. No need for such a big turbo especially on a street car. You'll end up getting caught with your pants down too many times. It takes for ever to spool up a T28 on the street. You might as well look for hondas if you going from a roll. I like GST's alot but after 60 it's slow rollin. My mom want's to upgrade her car to a faster turbo but I told her it's gonna cost her.

actually a T28 spools up almost as fast as the stock T25.. and its not a regular T28 Im going with.. its a big T28.. which has the top end and low end of a Big 16G but the spool up time of a T25 :)..should be fun.. Ive aske the DSM guys on the board and once i get my turbo and fmic i can start the wonderful world of tuning but the car will be well capable of running low 12s on race gas :)

I'm confused. I thought you were way faster than a stock GT-S. I mean, all it takes is a boost controller and exhaust and you're low 14s high 13s from what I've heard.

You still have the T-2small in there? Go for broke and get a 16G or 20G!!!!!!! And of course some bigger injectors so you don't go BOOM.

A T28 is more expensive than T3 for that amount of money I'll get a 3/4 hibrid. or T3 super 60 capable of 25psi and 11 sec timeslips.
I have a T28 in my 1.6 honda and it tops out at 18psi I managed a 12.85 at 112mph. Not bad for a mini motor and full interior. I'm going to upgrade to a T3 and hopefully hit low 12's high 11's.

The T28 that he is getting is a FP big T28, and from talking to robert and brian at Forced performance, they have gone 11s with them. Not your average T28. The nice thing about a T28 is that its a full bolt on to a 2nd Gen DSM, where as with a T3/T4 your going to have to have a manifold adaptor, and a new downpipe and you still have to make it clear the water pump.

hey Larry, i was thinking about racing a new WS6 last night on metcalf... but then i pulled up next to him and saw he had a triple gauge pod. Well, suffice it to say, i bout crapped my pants and dropped back real quick. Nitrous or blower? ****, i'd be lucky to pull a i/e LS1 from a roll.

I had a similar thing happen a good month or so back. Only thing is i thought... humm... gauges this should be a good race then. Turned out i was just wrong. Kid had gauges, but nothing else worth talking about. Car was butt slow.
LS1s are nice and all its just too bad they are all butt hurt slow up here.
Before someone says "go to sea level and race one" i'll respond... I already have. I still beat him by a good bit from a roll...

i would have given it a try if i had my alcohol injection and was running 20psi. But right now i am only running from 13-15psi and am still working on tuning my fuel to keep my EGT's down. I will find him again one day i am sure and give him a run :D

Jason..come back to the dark side..turbo is where its at :)..haha.. seriously man its soooo much fun.. I miss my Celica alot but only becuase of the attention.. whenever I ride in them now I miss the 8300rpm redline but the lack or torque and power remind me why i love my eclipse :)
btw.. its funny how no one seems to know anything about the Big T28.. I say Im getting a 28 and there like NO NO NO.. get a 20g or whatever..hehe.. on a 20G you have to spend ALOT more money on bigger parts :).. hehe and unless your building a full out race car its not necesary.. the Big 28 will get me into the low 12s with my supporting mods and if I ever wanna go lower then that, im gonna have to trade in the GST for a GSX :)

I miss Isis alot! But I'll have to wait and hope for the best. The wife says she wants the car if we get the money to get it back. She did nothing but complain about it and wish me to sell it. So I did and then she complains how much she misses it and wants it back. If I got the car back I'd have to pull the motor and tranny, Seals, and syncros are going out. It's been abused long before I got it. It also needs new wiring harnesses, struts, bushings, and I want to build the motor up. With Pistons, Rods, cams if I can find the $1000 HKS set. Port the CT26 turbo and put in a bigger compresor wheel too which should make it good for about 23-24 lbs of boost. With intercooler work, BOV, ECU work etc, I can get an easy 450 hp.

Actually, they are 4MM bigger each port, ditto on the intake manifold, and the TB is 6MM bigger.

Haha I love this stuff...you guys are so proud that you hung with a STOCK LS1 when you have performance parts, I would love to see a turbo on a LS1 and lets see how close you are then..Guys not to be a **** but it takes hellified money to run what I run stock...I dynoed 347 at the rear with 368lbs of tq, what did you dyno stock? But you say who I'm lighter, wow a whooping 400lbs lighter maybe..but if you win than good kill=)

it didn't take me too much money into my car to run what your's car does stock... heck i'd be really suprised if you could keep up with me now, and the price of my car + mods is considerable less than the price of a new SS or a firehawk. Not only that, but i got to go play in the snow last night when all the LS1 guys were home sitting out the weather, and i can haul 4 people + my bikes, and snowboards around with me all the while having a nice stereo in a car that is comfortable to drive the 200 miles it takes to get to the track...
V8s are the stock performance bargin, but when we start talking about money spent on performance gain, up to a point the turbo cars are going to ruin your day.

True..My car stock was 19$ with 10K miles on the odoem, with less then 700 dollars in mods I have run a best off 12.8 at 108 in the quarter. Hell with a cam and maybe alittle head work I'll run low 12s all day long with no turbo..Now add in a turbo or s/c, a new intake, some gears I'll be in the low 11 if not 10s, you may be able to drive it in the snow but who cares, I didn't buy my car to drive in the snow, I bought it to cruise, look good and haw some a$$..I have my truck for that purpose but being in texas I don't see much snow anyways

AllV8, whaddyawant....a medal? ;-) Relax man, these guys more than know what it takes to run certain times, you don't have to beat 'em over the head with the "LS1 is king" attitude. I've got a buddy who has about 7 grand (car and all) into an old fox body LX 5.0 who'd run circles around you, me, and just about anyone else here. So what? Just relax and enjoy the show.

AllV8: You gotta realize that everyone on this board could have bought something cheap of a used car lot and stuck a couple bucks in it to make it run 12's, 11's, or 10's all day long. But You find that most of use aren't looking for all out brute force and that's it. I think alot of these same reasons are now why the Fbody is dead. Sure it had incredible horsepower for a very cheap price. But I want a sports car image, a well layed out interior, a top notch handling car, quality workmanship and some resale value. All of these that many Fodies lack to some degree.
I'm not saying I don't like the Fbodies. Cause I think they are cool cars and they are awesome 1/4 mile machines. But they definately didn't have what I wanted. I test drove a 2000 Mustang GT fully loaded for 22,500. It was awesome for speed, but it was unconected with the road, felt like I was sitting in a truck seat, and just didn't feel right to me. To me and thousands of others The Celica is want we wanted. I feel 100% at home in my car. I still run a very respectable 1/4 mile time. That many N/A mustangs and older Camaros/Mustangs will never reach. I have penty of aftermarket to do what I want to my car. And I can take turns and play on back roads like there is no tomorrow. There are too many things this car can do that HP and TQ can make up for.

This forum must be a gold mine for trolls looking to start flaming. It sometimes makes for interesting reading but I think the nature of a (street) racing forum brings out the worst in some of us. It's as if we're not in competition for the better 1/4 mile time but for better reasons to validate our choice of automobile, and thus bolster our own ego and self esteem.
Maybe this isn't true for some people, but I am now seriously thinking of trading in my Celica towards a rocket powered big rig.

definately agree, cars that already have factory turbo are just great to modify.
I respect ls1s alot though. ricers just bash domestics and call them pos but I like them. alot. want proof? okay, a z28 revved at me at a light on other night (my car is modded 2g turbo dsm btw). a cobra, (they ain't ls1 but they're still v8) one that says cobra on rear bumper, wanted to race me at a highway too. I was cool because I respect them and think they're worthy.
However, I get so pissed when riced out civics wants to race me.
I was crusing at speed limit the other day and suddenly out of nowhere a riced accord with body kit did a flyby from behind.
I was like 'accord? wtf, who da **** are you messin with, oh hell ya, it's on' and went right by him.
I was praying 'god, please, please give us a light. please,by a miracle of god. i want to burn him and teach him a lesson'
but unfortunately, there was a car infront of him at next light. so at the light it was me and a suv. and he had to turn right at the light after that. I was so pissed.
hey, I'm not saying my car is da **** but turbo dsms aren't slow at all, mine's a low-mid 13 second car for now and I was 99.9%sure I could kill that accord. no offense to honda drivers but lots of dsm guys don't have respect for honda/acura scene.

hell yeah.. I respect the LS1.. its a sick engine.. hence the reason that im proud that I was almost able to hold with one on my stock puny little turbo 4 cyl car :).. haha..
as for the post about what if u add a turbo to an LS1.. well then it would be even quicker.. but on the same respect why not add 4 cylniders to my car.. its called run what u brung :)
