sup guys..
i have an injen cai installed...and when i start the car in the morning, it revs up to bout 3k....then dips down and stays below 1k..
at this point, the engine starts to make a gasping, nasty sound..and one time it actually cut off.....lately ive just bin manually holding the revs at 2k for bout 20 seconds, then goin...
my cars in the garage when i start it up in the morning....is it just that theres not enuf circulating air?...(should i just move the car outside to warm up?)..
thanx....

Does it die just from idling or does it die when you give it some gas?
My car bogs down really bad in the morning if I try to go without letting it warm up for a couple of minutes. It didn't do this until I got my intake.

it died just that one time when i just let it idle....
ive tried manually holding up the rev's (Loud!), but i start pretty early in the morning when everyones still asleep...
anyone have any suggestions to how to avoid this bogging?...

you guys are probably just running really lean in the morning. i'd suggest to check all the connections and make sure the install was correct. or just invest on an s-afc and set your idle rpm's richer.

The engines just cold, don't worry about it. It should go away as the car warms up. When the weather gets warmer you should be fine in the morning. :)

Are you sure, because I have the Ingen CAI and I've never had that problem.. in the morning or whenever I start my car up after a long period of time.

I personally think it has something to do with the install. Go back and recheck all connections.

It's fine. My 21 year old Toyota Corona does this exact same thing every morning when the night is cold and has been doing it since it was new. It didn't do this when I lived in Hawaii because the nights never get very cold there, but now living in Northern California it idles a little rough when I first turn it on for the day. I don't know the exact science behind it, but if the car idles fine after you drive it a bit and later in the day then it should be completely fine. Usually, the car should idol at a higher when its cold, but this doesn't usually kick in until the car has ran for awhile. When I first start the Corona it idles pretty rough, but after I drive it for about 5 minutes the higher idle kicks in and it's not so rough anymore, just louder.
If it is related to the CAI then it might be because with the bigger intake you are allowing more cold night air to come into the innards of the engine and causing it to get colder then it was with the stock air box. In any event, its the engine being cold thats causing the rough idle in the morning.

When I was living in Sacramento(Miss you guys), I never had any problems with my car bogging down a bit or anything like that in the morning.
Up here in Tacoma...It's like 20 to 30 degrees in the morning..and it bogs my car down every once in awhile. It's usually just when it's cold as hell...I have to rev it a little bit...warm up the engine and it's good to go.
Hell, in Sacramento...my temp gauge would hit mid range within 2 minutes or so...Up here...I'm halfway to work before the thing is warmed up yet.
And it didn't really have that problem in the summertime up here...so it's definetly gotta be the cold!
I miss North Cali...it's warmer...and DRIER down there. :P
