Sup all,
I have some general questions about repairing rock chips.
I have a spec blue, and the chips were getting out of hand, so I went to the dealership, bought some touch up paint, ordered langka, and went to work on my hood.
I washed it off first, then clay barred it.
Off-topic question: does clay barring remove wax?
Anyways, after that, i applied the touch up paint to the chips and waited 45 mins, then i notcied the paint kinda shrunk into the chips, so i applied another layer. I waited like 2 hours before trying langka. After applying it and rubbing with the t-shirt and glorified "buffering" credit card, i noticed the color didn't really match. I could tell by looking at my t-shirt that langka was removing paint, but the color looked really dull. It was flush with the surface, i ran my finger over it with a latex glove, but the "repaired" chip looks almost greyish. I'm at a loss of what to do next. It seems that langka is reacting with the paint to alter the color a bit.
I wonder if anyone else has tried it on a spec blue or dark colored car. I read somewhere that the solution is to apply a really fine layer after using langka to get the correct color.
A rather stupid thing i did was try to clay bar the blob with langka, which didn't do anything, but i noticed that when the surface was wet, then the color was ok and i couldn't tell there was a chip at all. I'm wondering if i just use polish and wax if that'll work....
any tips? thanks
