Good luck....they will never be completely preventable. It helps to make sure if you are using a mitt to wash with that you get all the gritty stuff off the car first, wash from the top down, rinsing the mitt well.....

Uh.....try to use a California water blade with a good shami when drying....

All of these won't do it. I had a black Z24 and washing it every other day, keeping everything off of it doesn't help. Clear coats are made to take abuse by being so soft. The only way to fix it is to get a good swirl removed (Meguiars) and use it often.

Notice I got a light colored car.....hehe

Why is it better if u wash the car weekly as oppose to once every two weeks or 3 weeks.
I feel that the more often u wash it, the more swirl marks u'll put on your car.

Hello.

Do NOT wash or wax using circular motions. Wax on wax off is a big time swirl mark maker. Wash and wax in strait lines instead of circles.

I think you will get swirl marks no matter what you do, unless you buy the car brand new and never drive it.. But if you do have black car, I recommend this Turtle Wax stuff, it is made for specific colored cars, I think they have it in white, black ,silver, and maybe red. But it also comes with this stick thing to. But anyways, I use it on my Black Celica and it makes it extra shiny and hides these swirls really good, untill it rains of course... But overall I think it works a lot better then the Meguirs swirl remover because I also used that and it did jack for my car...

Hey bro i feel u man,i have the same color. It's a b1tch.But get over this,i did it already.Remember, nothing can prevent swirls, unless u never wash your car.U can only hide them by waxing your car,but that last short time(next rain). So my advise is:get used to that,it will always be swirls, believe me!Take care!

I guess I don't notice this as much, since my car is silver. You can't really tell when it's dirty (well you can, but it isn't as obvious as black) and you can't really see the swirls.

Oh hail silver!!

I have spectra blue and don't have visible swirl marks on mine.
u have to be real careful not to dip the towel back into the bucket after u appy it on the car. I always rince it out each time. It takes me an hour just for washing the body without rims.

I use a $20 100% cotton loop towel and use separate ones for top and one for bottom.

Guys. There is one word to know for you cars paint. ZAINO!!! That stuff can't be compared. I have a black GT-S and I use the entire Zaino show polish system on my car. There is just no comparison.

Goto: www.zainobros.com to check it out.

CAR WASH 101
The best way to wash a car is to first of all, use a brand new terry cloth everytime u wash ur car. A mitt or reusing a terry is bad because there are pieces of dirt that u cannot see that will cause swirls. If u want to be anal, u should get a new terry even if u drop the terry on the ground while washing ur car. Wash ur car in the shade. Rinse the car very well from top to bottom(very important)Dirt builds up at the bottom half of the car. Rinse off all that dirt that can leave swirls. Then start washing car w/ brand new terry from top to bottom. Starting with the horizontal surfaces like, hood, roof, trunk ect. Then vertical panels, bumpers and finally the wheels. Rinse each panel one by one right after washing so that the saop doesnt dry on. Then Dry top to bottom.
Doing this weekly will have ur celi looking almost as good as mine:)

That's getting a little too anal. If you wash the mit after your done with it your fine. It will wash 99.8% of the dirt off. If you can't see the dirt your fine. You should not use the same mit your wash your body panels off with on any other part of the car. Including the underside of the car, and especially the wheels. Power spraying as much dirt off the car as possible before your rub a wash mit on it is a good idea. It loosens dirt off the car and washes away alot of dirt without it scrathcing your clear coat. Especially the bigger paticles that cause the most damage. But swirl marks are gonna happen. The more you lessen that from happening and using waxes or polishes regularly helps keep the swirls away.
