woo hoo!!! i would like to see how this works. I really want to do this too, but west coast doesn't have a reputable shop that i know of that will do this. ERRRRRRRRRRRRrrr

They don't have to be like certified or anything...And good shop can do the install. The only bodywork that has to be done is cutting the inner fender out (if you call that bodywork)

welcome scholle- i remember you from ecelica.
I found this video a while ago off of autoloc. its a video of their universal motorized kit- the fabrication was horrible though.

just click on the pic of the civic, titled: video

omg, that vid on autoloc.com...watch it closely, you can see the door wobbling as it opens...looks like it might fall off. Plus who in the hell would sit there and wait 20-30 seconds for their door to fully open when they wanted to get in/out? Rediculous!

PhatCellyGT
06-05-2003, 12:24 PM
That's why I haven't done that to my Decah kit yet...Not till I get another daily driver. Can you imagine if it was raining hard and you had to stand there and wait for your door to open? Or what would happen to the interior

I forgot to bring my Digi Camera to work today so it will not be up until Monday. I took three videos. One of how to get into the car. One from the inside getting out of the car (both from the drivers point of view) and the third is getting in and out from about 3ft away.

Jamey.

I think the largest file size is going to be about 2.5 megs. I hope that someone can host it.

Yeah, stay away from that Auto-loc crap, and Springman's. If you want doors that work and look good, go to www.carexcess.com for the Decah system.

You can go to car excess page. There are pics of the door closing. It doesnt seem that difficult cause you can close them while seated and an average looking girl is closing the door so difficulty should be minimal.

I e-mailed the vid to dexthageek. I was going to walk thru and describe it step by step but after the first vid it sounded really stupid. The best vid is the one from a distance. Don't mind the squeak in the door as i just clean it up from my first grease job and have not put any grease on them yet. So normally they do not squeak like that unless you need some grease.

This is the original springmans kit that wasn't a direct bolt-on, but i have Mark's kit. I will be going back there shorty (Springmans) to get the height to come up alittle more then it does now, but it is not all that hard to get in or out as you can see i did open the door while holding the digi camera.

Also, the vid quality is bad as i had it on the smallest setting to conserve file size.

Jamey

Cars with those doors look fly (hey early 90's?), and I may be wrong, but those videos make those doors look pretty flimsy. They looked like they were shaking the whole time.

Still, they look awesome. I guess you have sacrifice steadiness for sweet looks.

i never wanted them before, and i definately dont want them now that i watched the video.

Eh, too much trouble to open/close, plus they look wobbly. Too pretentious looking.

Opening and closing them are not that bad once you get used to it.

The doors do wobble but that video does not do them justice. I should of opened the doors and had my buddy film it because he made it look alot worse then they are.

I will make a better one to show how it is actually pretty stable this weekend.

Any door opening shouldn't take experience for it to look good.

too bad they cant make them slowly automatically raise when you lift the handle that would be sweet, i think the video makes them look cheap they need to be more sturdy.

I see you got your lambo doors from Springman's. I got my Lambo door kit from Car Excess. It looks like Springman's modified the Decah kits quite differently from Car Excess.

Oh my God, do your doors wobble! I was quite shocked when I saw those videos. Your videos make the lambo door kit look so unsturdy. Mine are a lot more sturdier than yours. I will post a video of me opening and closing my doors (from Car Excess) SOON! I will post the video in a new thread....Stay tuned!

I saw J's (Baldhead_J's) doors over the weekend and they were very stable. I didn't ask who installed them or where he bought them, but Will (PhatCelly) and others would know.
