personally, i would take the GTS anyday. but i drive at least an hour a day to and from work, so it's the gas thing that made me go with the celica for the most part, along with style, dependability and so i can piss off the mustang owner, beating him with an engine less than half his size.
a gts can hang with the gt auto's, i've killed every one that played, a 5speed is basically a drivers race, assuming the 'stang is stock

My girls got a 2002 GT 5-speed convertable, but she won't let me drive it since I won't let her drive my 6-speed. You guys scared me with all the mis-shift stories so I'm paranoid about an inexperienced manual driver messing up my car. I did test drive one though and was pretty disappointed. I'll take my GT-S over a stang anyday.

It all comes down to domestic vs. import. I will go with the import any day!! Especially when concerning Mustangs.

This is the dilly I'm in now.. I'm looking for a car that will take me to school, the mall, blah, blah, blah wherever a teen male would need to go. The PROBLEM, I've been a car enthusiast since I was 8, so an echo or civic doesn't satisfy me.

These are my options...

Mustang GT
-V8 powa.
-I hate the suspension (rear), handling, and cheap ****ty interior look and finish. also, the shifter is in a weird position for me.
-saleen bodykit and rims =

RSX
-I hate the looks
-I like the power from such an engine, I know that the market will GROW like the Teg
- I hate how everyone will own one soon just like civics now.

Celi
-I LOVE the looks, style, finish both inside + out
-I LOVE how I have not seen 1, yes not 1, in my city
-I hate how pricey it gets with basic ****
-I hate how there isn't much of a market for it.
-I hate how the TRD fog lamps for the front bumper of a action pkg cost $500

Veedub GTi
-Quick, small, nice, practical.
-chip mod
-not many around where I live, cheapest of these 4 cars.
-my mom has a 99 passat wagon and all this little bull**** keeps popping up and the car is at the dealer getting fixed too often. just recently, a power window piece broke and the ****ing window would slide up and down freely.

Basically my order is
1. Celi
2. Stang
3. GTi
4. RSX ( i will not buy this )

:AF: too much to think about.

how many times are you going to ask this question? we've answered it for you a couple times in teh past year or so.

go test drive the things back to back from hel and back and chose what you like the best. htey each have their pro's and con's, but the celica is much more limited in things to do to it for any motorsport.

now, get off of the internet and into a dealer parking lot and figure it out!

There is no way you can hang with an auto GT Mustang. What is it with you people? Just because you own and like the Celica (i do too) you have to lie? The Auto tranny is not going to sap the power too much in a v8 hight torque car like the Mustang. The car will still be much better than 15 second in the quarter.

My best friend has a mustang gt. Yeah its pretty fast, im sure it would beat a gt-s from a racing point of view. I personally dont like mustangs because everybody and their mothers has one. I like the celica, not to mention they look nicer when fixed up! :)

Stock vs stock, the Celica is at least the equal of the Mustang in autox or on a windy road. Add a LSD to the Celica and it is probably faster, but not in a straight line.

Just to come close in a stoplight drag, the Celica driver would have to rev the hell out of the engine and shift like a pro, where the Mustang gt owner would just floor the gas and let the auto tranny do all the work. The Mustang's V8 probably makes more tourque at 2000 rpm then the gt-s ever makes.

But take a Celica to a road course or even just on a road trip and if you want to do more than stoplight drag, you'll be glad you got the Celica.

Umm, what?? "equal"? we're talking GT here, not SVT. No IRS.
