Hey all,

I've had my 01 Celica since last June, and within the last 2 months or so, I have seen my celica very slow to turn over when I start the engine (slow being like 3 seconds to ignition). This happened just a little bit twice, and the last time it really started to scare me that I would need to be jumped. The weird thing is that I cannot find a pattern....meaning, it's not like it's overly cold outside and it's not like I don't let my car warm up before I drive.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Much thanks in advance,
Punky

Check your battery. Check your battery cables. Get a load test on your battery. Hopefully it will be covered under warranty since it's so new. The worst case scenario is that fuel isn't spraying well - maybe a clogged injector or a bad one if you use cheap fuel.

(I work out in Orland Park @ Gold's ... but no I'm not a Celica owner.... some dude that works out there has a Trans Am WS6 with NOS and all sorts of crap on it....)

Put the key to "ON" for a few seconds before cranking. It gives the fuel more time to reach the combustion chamber.

the GTS is like that sometimes...it takes a few cranks for me as well, i've had mine for 1.5 years now. i think it's cuz of the high compression ratio.

Buy a bottle of fuel injector cleaner at your Toyota parts dept. Dump the whole bottle in there on your next fill-up. That might help. Check the battery too like what the others said.
