Good free mod to try out on your celica

I gained 15rwhp doing this on my car, and i highly recommend it since its damn near free.

pull out your stock ECU box, it hsould be under your dash somewhere. Now plug it into your computers USB connection. THIS IS IMPORTANT...now go to toyota's website and find the neest BIOS drivers for your ECU. its not that big of a download, maybe 20k or so. Transfer those files onto your ECU, overwrite the old ones. Now the fun begins!

Using these new BIOS settings, I want you to change the multiplier clock settings. you can do this on your PC, just increase these settings by 10 each. for instance if the value is 5, go to 15, etc.

Now, be sure that you have adequate cooling as your ECU is going to be running A LOT faster than it was before. I use Freon to cool mine, and also stole a computer cooling fan and soldered it to the boards power supply. After you do this, you should plug it all back up and be ready to go. This mod took me about 40 minutes to do total, and is WELL worth it, as i can now beat those pesky v8's. what this mod does is your car will accelerate much faster because the fuel maps are being processed THAT much quicker. You should gain at least 2 tenths in teh quarter with this mod, and help out your gas mileage too, just like the Spiralmax.

I applied new BIOS settings and it worked!!! it's great... here's another tip...

after getting the new bios settings, connect your ECU to the USB conncection on your PS2 and put in TOKYO EXTREME RACER... now this is the tricky part, beat 1,000,000 RACES in a ROW... and you will get an ECU UPGRADE called "trd racing ecu" and it will be auto matically uploaded to your ecu... now put yer brand new "trd racing ecu" freshly downloaded from your ps2 into your 2000+ celica....

the thing is... since it is a "racing ecu" you'll need an alternative cooling system, i tried the coolant thing you did... but i couldn't get a welder small enough, so I just got a GREDDY FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER and it cools down my ECU perfectly. 350 WHEEL HORSE POWER

the moral of this story is... DON'T F with the newbie's that's just ignorant....

ahhh i had the same problem, reinstall'd the old os, and disable the air conditioner, windshield wipers, and gas pedal. if that doesnt work dump a gallon of "cold" water into the intake, and then start the car. the a icon shaped as a engine appears on gauges you have done it correctly.

Wow thanks a lot Slasher X. In fact I took the liberty of installing a nitrous cooling system for my ECU. Whenever I need to run my processor at 4 gigahertz I just overclock it with a switch on my dash and spray nitrous to keep it cool. Works much better than an industrial sized fan for cooling.

Just a reminder for Mac users, the BIOS drivers have not been carbonized for OS-X. You'll need to run Classic 9.X on your TiBook.

geesh you guys dont get out much do you? a buddy and i are working on a linux app that will let you override your cars ecu and be able to adjust some settings, we so far have been able to disbale rev limiter, if we poke around enought maybe even be able to mess with when the lift kicks in on the GTS... just a couple of computer geeks messing around, i really dont think much will come out of it though

i just changed the bios and CMOS settings and there was a virus in da system......all the km got deleted adn now my car is on 0 km :)

i also hooked up my computer to the ecu and downloaded an autodrive program which works perfectly well... now i can play wif my penis and play counterstrike while drivin..........

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! while your at it add one of those seat pads that gives massages, rig it up to the ecu and it will play with your balls while it is in autodrive!!!!!
